VodafoneZiggo is a Dutch joint venture of the international Vodafone Group and Liberty Global, formed in January 2017. As part of the integration, they created a central People Experience department, responsible for all things HR. The Senior Employee Journey Manager will play a huge role in defining and establishing the way this newly formed department works.


VodafoneZiggo provides fixed, mobile and integrated communication and entertainment services to commercial and residential customers. Because of their partnership, they are able to provide their customers with all-inclusive packages. Vodafone offers customers mobile voice and data plans on the world’s largest 4G network. Ziggo provides homes and businesses with high-speed broadband, landlines and interactive television. Altogether, more than 9000 members of staff are employed by VodafoneZiggo, spread out over fourteen offices in the Netherlands. Vodafone has 4.9 million customers and Ziggo has around 4 million. Vacancy: Senior Employee Journey Manager

With the merger of Vodafone and Ziggo comes a new opportunity to optimize the employee experience and the Senior Employee Journey Manager is at the very heart of this. The People Experience department oversees all HR processes for 9000 employees. The successful candidate will use their considerable creativity and ingenuity to redesign the way the department works.

Just as the merger of Vodafone and Ziggo marked an important development in integrated technology, so does this role present an exciting opportunity to define a new way of working throughout the newly formed People Experience department (75 FTE). VodafoneZiggo employs 9000 personnel at locations throughout the Netherlands. They believe that now is the time to develop a new, technological-aided approach to the way its People Experience department operates, by implementing new processes and technologies which will enhance and improve the employee experience.

How does that work in practice? Well, it starts with defining the most important employee journeys, using methodologies such as Design Thinking. From the moment a potential candidate starts looking for a new job until what happens after they submit their application, through their initial training, subsequent holiday requests, performance reviews and right through until they exit the company or start drawing their pension, there is a chance to completely rethink the way these processes work. The Senior Employee Journey Manager will be instrumental in the design, implementation and measurement of these processes. That means that in addition to creating the roadmap for implementation, they will also convince a wide range of colleagues to build their workflow around these employee journeys, define KPIs, ensure that performance is measurable and be continually monitoring how performance can be improved. The Senior Employee Journey manager will start off with one direct report, who will assist with the operational aspects of the transformation.

This is a paradigm shift in the HR sector and requires considerable experience and creativity in developing innovative solutions to workplace processes. The Senior Employee Journey Manager will be the driving force behind that change. This is an exciting challenge for the right person to start with an almost blank slate and build a new way of working for the entire People Experience department.

Candidate Profile

The Senior Employee Journey Manager will draw upon their experience of project leadership, Design Thinking and user/customer journey management to define new ways of working and create new solutions within the HR department that improve the professional lives of VodafoneZiggo’s employees and set a new standard for the HR sector. A strategic thinker who is keen to be part of the team reshaping the way HR operates in a successful business.


  • Academic degree
  • Minimum of 8 years professional experience
  • Project Management with user/customer journeys
  • Familiar with methodologies such as Design Thinking
  • HR- experience is an advantage
