Catawiki is Europe’s fastest-growing online auction platform. Every month, it helps more than ten million people discover an endless variety of new treasures and objects. The company’s current objective is to optimize seller engagement. The Senior Operations Manager will ensure a fully integrated approach for commercial teams along with all the capabilities they need.
About Catawiki
Catawiki is the most-visited and curated online marketplace in Europe for special objects, with more than sixty-five thousand items on auction each week. Their objective is to provide an exciting and seamless experience for all customers who want to buy and sell special, hard-to-find objects. It was founded in 2008 with a mission to make special objects more accessible to people. Today, Catawiki hosts over six hundred auctions each week, across multiple categories from collectibles, art, design, jewelry and watches to classic cars and much more.
The Catawiki organization revolves around two business functions: its technological platform where products are auctioned from; and the commercial function, which consolidates teams engaging with our sellers & buyers. Within Commercial, the Commercial Operations team ensures the wider Commercial organisation has access to optimal tools, processes & frameworks to best engage with sellers. To further align and optimize the seller experience and help drive the best sales results possible, they are hiring a Senior Operations Manager.
Vacancy: Senior Operations Manager
This key leadership role functions within Commercial Operations as well as across the Commercial department, and reports to the Senior Director of Commercial Operations. They will have two main objectives. First, to build up the commercial departments with all the capabilities they need to engage sellers and enhance strong relationships, which drives sales. And second, they will autonomously refine and strengthen the mission and strategy of this function. This will result in a fully integrated seller journey across the various category teams who are in contact with the sellers.
To identify capabilities, an open mindset and collaborative spirit is key, as the Senior Operations Manager will work with various Business Units (Sales & Categories) as well as the Tech Department, Finance & Legal. The focus of the main domain’s commercial development are to generate business and identify new seller segments. This requires a broad range of expertise including: understanding the commercial needs, designing opex tools, sales planning processes and performance measurement tools, validating them with key stakeholders, and then implementing them. Clearly this role requires a sharp eye, smart thinking and strong influencing skills.
“The Senior Operations Manager we are looking for needs to be curious, robust and cool headed. The right candidate is steadfast in challenging the status quo, defining a strategic direction, and getting buy-in from General Managers and Sales Directors to implement new ways of working and improvement plans.” – Eleonore Mouy, Senior Director Commercial Operations
Safeguarding a fully integrated seller journey means that all organization contact points with sellers are consistent. This must be a seamless experience at every step, from a seller’s first contact with Sales and the Object Experts to Legal, Customer Service and Financial.
The Senior Operations Manager brings all commercial elements together, to align and empower other functions within the organization to move in sync and realize their full business potential.
The commercial department is evolving. This means the Senior Operations Manager will also have the opportunity to grow in this leadership role and manage a team of operations professionals. They will also be involved in change management projects that impact both the Sales and Category organizations.
