Amidst shifting global trade dynamics, increased scrutiny on tariffs, and tightening import regulations, companies across industries face growing pressure to strengthen trade compliance. Within this landscape, the Trade Compliance Manager – EMEA plays a pivotal role in securing resilient operations and enabling responsible growth across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
This position leads all trade compliance activities in the region, ensuring that Stanley1913’s import and export processes comply with EU and national regulations, customs laws, export controls, and AEO standards. With trade compliance not yet centralized at Stanley1913, this is a rare opportunity to take ownership of the function and shape its development moving forward. Within that context, this role offers the chance to actively build processes, introduce structure, and embed best practices – with direct impact on Stanley1913’s European growth ambitions.
The scope of the role spans both operational execution and strategic development. It covers product classification (HS codes), valuation, and country of origin determinations, as well as export control compliance and sanctions screening. Responsibilities include drafting and implementing policies, preparing and submitting documentation, and conducting internal audits to identify risk. The Trade Compliance Manager also monitors regulatory developments, resolves customs-related issues, and maintains strong relationships with government agencies, customs brokers, and third-party logistics providers.
Success in this role hinges on clear communication and effective collaboration. This Trade Compliance Manager works closely with colleagues in Southeast Asia and the US, as well as with the support team in the Philippines. Cross-functional coordination is equally vital, particularly with departments such as Product, Procurement, Logistics, Legal, Finance, and IT. The ability to influence without authority is essential, particularly when driving trade compliance awareness across the organization. Together with Jennifer, this role sets up and drives a training and education program, helping teams across the region understand and apply the latest compliance requirements.
