Vacancy: IT Area Lead for Data Management
The IT Area Lead will define the vision for data management for DBNL, which is ING’s retail and business banking activities in The Netherlands. They will develop the roadmap for data and analytics capabilities and lead the delivery of their agile teams, provide direction and ensure quality and pace of the release. The IT Area Lead will have about five direct reports (Chapter Leads) and manage a department of 130 data engineers, analysts, and designers in The Netherlands, Romania, and India. This role will report to the Head of IT Customer and Data and work closely with the Tribe Lead of the Data Management Tribe and Product Leads.

One of the primary responsibilities for the IT Area Lead will be to design and drive a transformation of the data architecture and associated way of working. They will develop the target architecture, including cloud services, data modeling, and a data analytics environment, and then lead its step-by-step implementation. To develop the architecture, the IT Area Lead will work closely with Global teams. They will also introduce a modular approach to multidisciplinary collaboration, establish efficient teamwork between data and IT experts and the business. Their efforts will create a first-class agile working environment, attract and retain the best engineers, and encourage innovative thinking around data, analytics, and AI.
The IT Area Lead will be responsible for the end-to-end development and execution of ING’s data management strategy for its home market. This requires someone with expertise in data strategy, architecture, data management, and analytics as well as extensive managerial and transformation leadership experience. This role should have a background in architecture and delivery along with technical know-how and solid people skills. The IT Area Lead will have the opportunity to put their extensive skillset into practice at ING by taking ownership of one of the largest data lakes in The Netherlands and leveraging its contents to strengthen the bank’s position as the global digital standard in its industry.
