The VP of Product will support the transition from start-up to scale-up.
About Helloprint
The printing industry is the fourth biggest industry in the world. It’s best described as a fragmented market with extremely high demand. The mission of Helloprint is to consolidate this market by becoming the globally leading platform in this segment.
Helloprint is already one of the most innovative e-commerce businesses in Europe. They have developed a scalable platform with endless print designs and the option for users to create their own designs as well. They strive to do things differently in order to delight their clients. For example, Helloprint is a frontrunner in offering sustainable alternatives in this industry.
The ambitious company was started by Hans Scheffer and Michael Heerkens in 2013. It is headquartered in Rotterdam and has offices in Liverpool, Paris, Valencia, Lisbon, and Manila. Helloprint’s team counts over 160+ professionals of 28 nationalities and is keen to rock the e-commerce world. Helloprint is a young company with an average age of its staff of 30. Talented people have chosen Helloprint for the thrill, the steep ambitions, and the high-paced environment.
The Helloprint founders understand that the professional life of their employees is driven by responsibilities, not rules, chores, and duties. Workers are responsible for how they fulfill their role within the business and will not be babysitted. Helloprint is the only business in the Netherlands that does not have a traditional employment agreement. At Helloprint they call this principle ‘design yourself’.
“At Helloprint, we differ a lot from other companies and we are proud of that. What makes us different is, for example how rapidly things are changing, our open culture, information sharing, drive to perform and that we expect independent decision-making.” – Hans Scheffer, CEO at Helloprint
The company is currently transitioning from start-up to scale-up, which is why they’re hiring a VP of Product to guide Helloprint’s current product development team to scale.
Vacancy: VP of Product
The VP of Product has the ultimate lead on Helloprint’s product and technology department, and they are on a mission to make Helloprint the world’s largest platform for printed products. This is a role for a strong, outspoken, and business-savvy product and technology leader who knows what it takes to scale an e-commerce company.
The VP of Product will be a member of the Management Team (MT) and report directly to the CEO and founder. In close collaboration with the other members of the MT, the VP of Product will define the company’s product strategy and take responsibility for the technology products behind it. At the same time, the VP of Product will roll up their sleeves as a hands-on product owner, representing client and business needs and helping the team to prioritize.
The main challenge for the VP of Product is to increase the scalability of the existing engine while creating better alignment between technology development and business goals, from supply chain to user experience. The VP of Product is always in the know about trends in tech, e-commerce, and the printing industry, and translates business needs into an overall product vision, strategy and roadmap. Because the organization is eager to innovate and expand, prioritization, focus and alignment are key to success.
The VP of Product will oversee the three development teams working on the platform products and technology. The teams, which currently include two Product Owners, ten developers, and three other content experts (SEO, UX, etc.), are set to expand over time. The VP of Product is also responsible for the personal development, support, coaching, and performance of these direct reports.
