And just like their brands and products, Jack Link’s culture is authentic and genuine. Life is too short to be artificial. The people at Jack Link’s are not typical corporate button-up types. They do things differently and don’t get tangled up in corporate complexity. That leads to a dynamic, open, diverse and high-paced culture that supports personal growth, ample challenge, and the opportunity to make a real impact.
Jack Link’s is a family-owned business that started about 130 years ago in northern Wisconsin. It has grown from scratch to become the leader in its industry with over two billion in annual revenues globally and has achieved double digits growth the past three years. Today, Jack Link’s is a global powerhouse with 3,500 team members worldwide and major footprints in the US, Europe, Latin America, Australia, and Asia.
EMEA is one of its main growth regions. In 2014 the company made its first steps into Europe and acquired Unilever’s BiFi and Peperami brands. Today, EMEA’s total annual revenue amounts to over 200 million euros, representing about ten percent of global sales, and is showing double-digit growth. Jack Link’s has a strong European presence in Germany, the UK, and Benelux. The European headquarters is located in an open, inspirational, and vibrant office in Amsterdam. The EMEA team of about seventy people is highly international with over 25 different nationalities, and is dedicated to continuing its impressive European expansion to become the leader in branded protein snacking.
Vacancy: HR Business Partner
To support their European expansion, the Jack Link’s HR department is expanding for strategic impact as well as operational capabilities.
In Amsterdam, a small central HR team supports the EMEA organization. The factory in Germany with its 700 employees, has their own local operational HR team. The objective of the central HR team is to become proactive and drive the strategic HR agenda and enable the European Leadership Team (ELT) to achieve their ambitious growth objectives by making sure all necessary processes and systems are in place to seamlessly manage HR operations.
“ For the HR Business Partner role, we are looking for an eager HR professional with an international orientation who wants to drive the strategic HR agenda and work closely with the European Leadership Team. Our philosophy is: feed your wild side. For us, that means rolling up your sleeves, not shying away from challenges, taking risks, and pushing hard to get things done.” – Robbie Pastoor, HR Director EMEA
This strategic scope includes the need to design a learning and development strategy, define a recruitment strategy and operationalize it. Other topics on the strategic agenda are talent management, designing a solid European rewards and benefits plan, develop an onboarding approach and address employee vitality. Depending on their passion and experience, the HR Business Partner takes ownership of one or two of the strategic topics and develops the strategic roadmap and implementation plan while working closely with the ELT. Excellent listening and analytical skills are essential to be successful in this job.
Most importantly the HR Business Partner will need to analyze what are the business and user needs in order to select the most suitable tools and processes enabling the organization to function smoothly.
“ Working on strategic impact and operational excellence is the golden combination within our organization. In practice, that means to do the things that matter, and don’t get tangled up in too much corporate complexity. ” – Jan Pieter Schretlen , Managing Director
With the growth of Jack Link’s and more European expansion to come, the central HR team will be stepping up in their role of business advisor. This opportunity offers a unique combination of strategy as well as operational scope. In addition, it offers the chance to help build a proactive, highly capable and motivated HR team who work closely to create a strong employer brand across EMEA.
