Raising $240 million within the first six months is a remarkable achievement, to say the least. Meet Flink, a Berlin-founded start-up that pulled it off. The grocery delivery service delivers groceries within 10 minutes at supermarket prices, and is growing rapidly. The Head of Supply Chain designs, implements and executes a winning supply chain strategy for Flink in the Benelux.

About Flink

Technology and the Covid-19 pandemic created an opportunity for the on-demand grocery delivery industry. Multiple start-ups rose to the challenge. One of them is Flink, founded in December 2020 by three German entrepreneurs. The Berlin-founded start-up has been growing rapidly since day one. Until now, the start-up has launched sixty delivery hubs in twenty-nine cities. The company raised a Series A funding of $240 million and is on track to becoming the fastest unicorn in Europe. Funds are used to fuel roll-out efforts throughout the Benelux region, Germany, Austria and France.

Quick, quicker, quickest
Flink means ‘quick’ in German. That moniker doesn’t only refer to the ten-minute delivery time slot the company promises, but also to the pace at which the start-up is rolling out new fulfillment hubs: ten delivery hubs are opening up every month. From these hubs, Flink delivers a selection of two thousand high-quality products to consumers’ homes as soon – ‘flink’ – and as sustainable as possible: on electric bikes and using packaging that can be recycled. Additionally, Flink aims to deliver organic products only. The company culture is best described as international, dynamic, transparent, and with flat hierarchies.

At present, Flink has hubs in a growing number of cities in the Netherlands, including Amsterdam, Almere, Delft, Groningen, Rotterdam, Tilburg, The Hague, Haarlem, Utrecht, and Delft. Its ultimate ambition is to be present in all major cities in the Netherlands. The office in Amsterdam is home to a young and driven team.

Vacancy: Head of Supply Chain

The Head of Supply Chain leads and manages the flow of goods from suppliers to Flink’s hubs in the Benelux. In charge of developing, implementing and executing the supply chain strategy, the Head of Supply Chain plays a key role in further shaping and facilitating the start-up’s highly ambitions growth goals in the Benelux.

The supply chain strategy comes up with relevant and clear KPIs, which they continuously monitor and optimize. Also, the Head of Supply Chain manages the operational budget for labour, equipment and improvement investments. As is expected in a dynamic and extremely fast-growing start-up like Flink, the Head of Supply Chain drives ongoing improvement across quality, efficiency and costs. All the while, they develop, mentor and train a solid Supply Chain team, which the Head of Supply Chain manages in a coaching and uplifting manner.

The ideal candidate is an ambitious teamplayer who is eager to join one of the fastest growing, best funded European startups. Someone who has earned their first stripes as a project manager, warehouse manager or logistics manager in the field of supply chain management, consulting or logistics. Solid project management and conceptual skills, an analytical mindset and a creative, problem-solving working manner are indispensable to get the job done. Lastly, a hands-on mentality is necessary to harmonize strategic thinking with operational tasks.
