Packaly has become very successful with its sustainable approach to the parcel delivery industry. For their CO2-emissions-free parcel delivery, they work directly with bike couriers for deliveries and use smart algorithms to calculate the most efficient daily routes. And now, the new COO will streamline the operations of this fast-growing company.
About Packaly
Packaly is the leading last-mile platform for CO2 emissions-free parcel delivery. In 2020, it started with an idea based on the founder’s first business. Axel Dekker was running an online bike shop but noticed that orders were shipped from his location in Utrecht to an out-of-town distribution center, and then back to customers in Utrecht. While cost -efficient, it was bad from a sustainability point-of-view. He consulted with some bike couriers and they came up with the idea of Packaly: a bicycle-only, last-mile delivery player that works with various retail companies.
Starting with a focus on sustainability and one-hour delivery, the company quickly realized that discretionary timing was more important to customers than speed. That’s why Packaly has essentially become a tech company. Their development team builds smart algorithms to create efficient bicycle delivery routes based on customers’ preferences for specific delivery dates and times. This contrasts with the industry’s traditional zip code-based delivery or same-day delivery model.
Packaly is well-funded by three institutional investment parties and two angel investors. Their team of twenty is driven by their shared passion to make a positive impact on the environment. That’s why their mission of sustainable and customer-friendly package delivery leads every strategic decision. Packaly’s partners include Lush, Rituals, Zalando, and De Bijenkorf, and they deliver to125 municipalities in The Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany.
