The pioneering Regulatory & Product Compliance Manager EU & UK will build cutting-edge regulatory & compliance expertise for the region.
About Stanley1913
As a result of Stanley’s relentless focus on quality and durability and their products’ unique and attractive styles, as well as high consumer engagement on social media, the company experienced unprecedented growth in the last few years. To achieve and sustain this significant growth, Stanley1913 has focused on its two core strengths: innovation and sustainability.
In its more than 111 years of existence, Stanley1913 has continued to optimize technologies to keep warm goods warm and cold goods cold. The brand has also expanded its selection of designs, including a line of products in vibrant colors, to appeal to various demographics. Stanley’s products are all made with a “Built for Life” lifetime warranty, promising durability that lasts.
The global brand, owned by HAVI, is headquartered in Seattle, U.S., with a growing regional team in Amsterdam and additional locations such as Shanghai and Rio de Janeiro. The new Regulatory & Product Compliance Manager EU & UK will focus relentlessly on European compliance and product safety, while also contributing to the global regulatory & compliance strategy and execution.
Vacancy: Regulatory & Product Compliance Manager
This role will be crucial in supporting Stanley’s continued growth, by monitoring, interpreting, and effectively communicating European legislation and regulatory requirements related to raw materials, product safety, product development, manufacturing, and labeling of Stanley’s product portfolio. In addition, this person will proactively connect and liaise with global stakeholders – from manufacturers and quality test labs to distributors, and from vendors and customers to colleagues in other regions – to build a network for effective and preemptive compliance management.
Pioneering compliance expert
The Global Product Compliance team, of which this role is a member, is led by the Senior Manager of Global Product Compliance at the Seattle headquarters. This rapidly growing team currently consists of only two other regulatory & compliance professionals in the US, making the Regulatory & Product Compliance Manager EU & UK the first of its kind in the EMEA region.
This places extra importance on this person’s role as a pioneer and a leader, taking ownership of building knowledge on relevant trends and developments in the EU and UK regulatory environments. They will quickly build a reputation as a regulatory and compliance expert for the region, proactively working with the Global team and external stakeholders to codify and share this knowledge.
Through excellent communication, they will ensure global stakeholders (such as manufacturers and quality test labs) are keenly aware of regional regulatory demands. This involves both online relationship-building and travel. They will collaborate cross-functionally with relevant internal teams and provide training and guidance across the company, implementing best practices and helping to establish the reputation of the Global Product Compliance team.
In the driver’s seat
Although this role closely follows international regulatory developments, it is a proactive rather than a reactive one. Stanley1913 aims to be at the forefront of innovation and sustainability, meaning that the company also wants to seize opportunities to develop portfolio solutions ahead of regulatory changes and beyond the regulatory minimum. The Regulatory & Product Compliance Manager EU & UK will play a key role in researching and advising on proactive compliance opportunities for the business.
Project management
The Regulatory & Product Compliance Manager EU & UK will also work on specific compliance-related projects, always ensuring excellent documentation of ongoing work. They will solve any arising compliance problems swiftly and effectively – while also escalating identified issues or risks properly and in a timely manner.
Lastly, this person owns and implements guidelines for EU and UK product safety and labeling compliance, analyzes internal business systems to facilitate best practices, communicates technical data requirements for labels on products and packaging, and advises teams on business operations relating to risks and policy developments.
“This person will be my regional eyes and ears for all things regulatory, compliance, and product safety. They will be a key stakeholder taking full ownership of the region, thus helping Stanley1913 give the EMEA market the importance it deserves. Yet, despite the regional focus, this is also a role with global breadth – making it uniquely challenging and full of development opportunities.” – Lauren Myers, Senior Manager of Global Product Compliance
This role is perfect for a people-oriented professional with stellar skills in organizing, analyzing, prioritizing, and paying attention to detail and accuracy. The candidate has demonstrated experience in identifying and resolving regulatory issues quickly and effectively, including navigating grey areas and eagerly diving into new topics and questions. They are keen collaborators who can communicate complex requirements to all levels.
In true Stanley1913 spirit, they thrive in a fast-paced environment where ambition and enthusiasm go hand in hand with ambiguity and continuous change. They know how to seize the initiative, work independently, manage multiple priorities, and help others be successful.
This is a world-class opportunity for a regulatory professional who likes to think big, do meaningful work, and leave the world better than they found it – within one of the most exciting and fastest-growing global FMCG brands of the moment.
