As a global leader in digital banking, ING is transforming its cloud infrastructure to drive innovation and scalability and improve security. Their Private Cloud division is at the heart of this evolution. The Head of Private Cloud will own the strategy and scale operations, driving ING’s next-generation cloud transformation on a global scale.

About ING and ING Private Cloud

ING is a global financial institution of Dutch origin, providing retail and commercial banking services to customers in over forty countries. With a workforce of more than fifty thousand, ING is committed to transparency, integrity, and social responsibility, helping customers manage their financial future while shaping the future of banking.

As a frontrunner in digital transformation, ING is rapidly evolving into a cloud-first organization. This strategic shift is driven by a move towards global, hybrid cloud-based platforms that enable scalable and secure banking solutions. At the core of this transformation is ING Private Cloud (IPC), a fully self-service digital platform designed to store, process, and manage ING’s data and IT services, including customer-facing applications. IPC standardizes ING’s IT infrastructure, simplifies processes, and brings automation to development and operations teams. Today, IPC supports over sixty five percent of ING’s global application workload, with an ambition to reach ninety percent hybrid cloud adoption by 2030.

As ING advances this transformation, the bank is investing heavily in scaling its private cloud across multiple regions, including a unique opportunity to take the lead of its Private Cloud tribe.

Vacancy: Global Head of Private Cloud

The Head of Private Cloud will bring a bold vision to ING’s Private Cloud tribe, driving the expansion of its next-generation cloud platform and advancing ING’s mission to become a market-leading cloud-first organization. Leading a highly skilled global team of more than four hundred people, they will own the architecture, security, and operational reliability of ING’s private cloud while shaping the bank’s broader cloud strategy.

This role demands deep technical expertise, exceptional leadership, and strategic foresight to accelerate innovation and ensure that ING’s investment in private cloud translates into enhanced security, scalability, and efficiency. The ideal candidate is a true cloud builder who has designed, delivered, and operated cloud services at scale. Experienced in leading global cloud operations in a complex, high-stakes environment, they have a software-driven mindset, championing automation, API-first architecture, and platform engineering.

Reporting to the Global Head of Tech Infrastructure, the Head of Private Cloud will define ING’s cloud roadmap, ensuring seamless integration between private and public cloud environments while driving automation, efficiency, resilience, and security. This high-impact role includes direct engagement with ING’s Executive Board, regulators, and senior stakeholders to align cloud strategy with compliance, security, and business goals. Leading a team of senior engineering leaders and Area Leads, the Head of Private Cloud will oversee all aspects of ING Private Cloud while influencing and coordinating across a global matrixed organization to accelerate ING’s cloud transformation.

“This is a rare opportunity to lead one of the most strategic and high-impact cloud transformations in the banking industry. Your ideas and leadership will shape the future of financial services technology, ensuring its cloud infrastructure is not just an enabler, but a true competitive advantage.” – Razvan Sighinas, Head of Global Infrastructure at ING Group

ING offers a dynamic, collaborative, and forward-thinking environment where innovation and leadership drive real impact. As part of a diverse and talented global team, the Head of Private Cloud will have the opportunity to shape the future of ING’s cloud strategy, leading one of the most critical transformations in digital banking. This role is a perfect fit for an experienced cloud builder and team leader with a background in banking, telecom, big tech, or other cloud-driven industries who is ready to move beyond traditional infrastructure management and take ownership of a high-stakes, high-impact cloud platform that powers ING’s digital future.
