nLighten was founded in 2021 by Harro Beusker and Chad McCarthy, both veterans of the European data center industry. The main motivation of these founders was to create the next step for the data center industry and align edge data centers with the green transition. By building, acquiring and operating multiple edge datacenter platforms across Europe, the fast-growing team of experienced professionals aims to realize its mission: being close to the customer, bringing connectivity ecosystems to regional markets, and actively supporting the energy transition.

In February 2023, I Squared Capital committed more than 500 million dollars of equity to support nLighten’s ambition to bring high quality colocation services to underserved cities and regions across Europe. Backed by the expertise and financial muscle of this hands-on shareholder, nLighten is ready to turn its ambitions into reality.
