Battolyser Systems is a clean tech startup with major growth plans to help companies achieve Net Zero, faster and cheaper. They manufacture and commercialize affordable Battolysers, which store electricity and produce green hydrogen for international energy companies and industrial players. The Strategist will lead their commercial technology expansion to help customers quickly achieve their sustainability goals.
About Battolyser Systems
Founded in 2018, Battolyser Systems was launched after they invented the world’s first integrated battery and electrolyser system — the Battolyser. It stores and supplies surplus wind and solar energy as a battery. Once fully charged, it automatically divides water into hydrogen and oxygen as an electrolyser.
Battolyser Systems is an original equipment manufacturer that develops and produces Battolysers. Since launching, they have already achieved several significant milestones. Their clients are major international energy companies and industrial organizations. They’ve delivered an industrial-scale pilot Battolyser unit, secured a commercial sales contract with a major energy company, raised new funding, and grown their team to fifty people, worldwide. Recently, Battolyser Systems and the Port of Rotterdam partnered to build the first gigawatt Battolyser factory in The Netherlands.
“The Battolyser is a missing link to realize our customers’ future Net Zero energy goals. And our first gigawatt factory will further accelerate our growth even more.” – Sam de Haas, Head of Strategy and Growth of Battolyser Systems
Battolyser employs a very diverse, international workforce; with only about half who are Dutch employees. Their work-hard/play-hard culture is driven by their mission to provide ‘Always Clean Energy’ for the world. The Strategy and Growth team includes highly-experienced strategy consultants, data scientists, an M&A specialist, a start-up funding specialist and a product strategist.
Vacancy: Strategist
The Strategist will help create and drive Battolyser Systems’ strategy; its ambitious growth plan to scale up fast. In five years they expect to grow revenues up to one billion euros, expand the organization tenfold, and help society reduce more than ten million tons of CO².
Many urgent challenges and opportunities are expected with their planned growth strategy. That’s why the Strategist will work with the Strategy Team to tackle strategic choices, prepare investor communications, provide strategic foresights based on business intelligence, and open their first gigafactory.
In their first year, the Strategist will update Battolyser’s three-year business strategy, build out the supply chain strategy, develop our partnering strategy and prepare an investment memorandum for the Series B funding round of sixty million euros.
The Strategist joins the Strategy and Growth team. To start, they will deliver strategic projects with significant autonomy, along with the support of the Strategy Lead. In this very fast growth environment many opportunities develop within and outside of the Strategy team. This can be rolling out in a new target market, or focus on funding and policy, or leading multi-disciplinary teams.
“The Strategist’s daily business will be to rapidly solve strategic puzzles in the complex environment of hydrogen, where the ultimate choices change the course of our business.” – Bouke Hylkema, Strategy Lead at Battolyser Systems
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced consultant or corporate strategist with a passion for energy transition. They will support the commercial scaling up of technology that can drive our future planet to a Net Zero economy.
