Vacancy: Head of In-Life Operations
The Head of In-Life Operations will support the strategic growth of last-mile delivery activities for their large, global e-commerce client. They will join the team that’s responsible for the program’s operational performance in European markets, and oversee an expanding fleet that will grow to more than fifty thousand vehicles. This includes managing the in-life operations side of this partnership and leading operations teams across countries. This way they can assure fleet utilization of at least ninety-five percent, and maximize fleet performance during peak periods, such as during the Christmas season.

The Head of In-Life Operations will join the Global Commerce team. They serve a global e-commerce leader, with more than twenty people in the central team and about 120 Fleet Operations Managers and other professionals in other countries.
ALD Automotive | LeasePlan is the process coordinator that ensures the fleet’s global availability by managing an intricate network of suppliers and delivery service providers. This includes planned and reactive maintenance, off road and accident management, and recalls. This vital role will lead a team of central and local specialists to ensure availability and adherence to client deliverables. Up to half of their time will be spent traveling to the countries to troubleshoot, meet with the client, and provide hands-on support and guidance.
Managing a fleet and stakeholder context of this size requires expert logistic and operational capabilities. Additionally, the Head of In-Life Operations will drive operational excellence and efficiency improvements, such as digital solutions, proactive fleet management, and customer data. They need to strike an ideal balance between prioritizing and implementing new ideas – from the client and their own teams – and keep the European operation running according to specs. Which means they’ll need to leverage their solid people management skills. They will also manage the relationship between ALD Automotive | LeasePlan, its suppliers, and client’s senior managers and successfully develop relationships with local country management to effectively steer and influence them.
This role is a perfect fit for a senior operational expert with a process mindset and a talent for stakeholder management. The Head of In-Life Operations will work on a highly strategic and complex client program with scale-up dynamics: the number of vehicles, countries, delivery partners, suppliers, and team members will continue to grow fast. The result is a complex puzzle that combines rapid expansion, strategic improvements, and flawless day-to-day operations.
