About Fenix Outdoor
Fenix Outdoor International is a Sweden-based company engaged in the manufacture and marketing of outdoor products for nature and outdoor life. Think of sleeping bags, backpacks, tents, compasses, outdoor clothing, and binoculars. Although the company has Swedish origins, it has a highly international focus. Fenix Outdoor is active in several worldwide markets (like the UK, US, and Canada), but its primary focus remains on northern European countries.
The company is divided into two principal divisions: Brands and Retail. The Brand division develops, manufactures, markets, and sells gear for outdoor life and leisure. It has its own brands: Fjällräven, Tierra, Primus, and Hanwag. Retail focuses on outdoor, leisure, and travel products and operates three retail chains: Globetrotter, Naturkompaniet AB, and Partioaitta OY. The company has branches, franchise stores, e-shopping, and mail-order operations.
“Our global company has a strong family culture, with a lot of freedom and a real passion for what we do. Many people have worked here for over fifteen years.” Marcel Gerrits, Global Supply Chain Director at Fenix Outdoor
Due to changing markets, rising oil prices, and global challenges regarding sustainability, international activities around transport are a hot topic. This is why the Global Transportation Manager is added to the company.
Vacancy: Global Transportation Manager
The Global Transportation Manager manages the global transportation spend and quality of all Fenix Outdoor’s ocean, air, and parcel logistics.
The specific initial mission of the Global Transportation Manager is to create transparency in global logistic activities. Currently, responsibilities and costs are scattered throughout the organization. In the face of globalization, questions around sustainability, and rising oil prices, a necessary first step is to create insight into all Fenix Outdoor’s transport activities and the costs. Hence, the Global Transportation Manager will combine data into one data management system and report insights. They will then build potential strategies around, for instance, savings and sustainability measurements.
“This role will ensure that our business needs for logistics are met; measured in costs, sustainability, quality, and service. The first step for this role would be to create insight in our current widespread logistic activities and costs.” – Marcel Gerrits, Global Supply Chain Director at Fenix Outdoor
The Global Transportation Manager will work closely with cross-functional and global teams to deliver on savings, service improvements, and process efficiencies in logistics. Key responsibilities will be global transportation sourcing and ongoing supplier relationship management. Projects also include freight bill audits and payments. Furthermore, the Global Transportation Manager will have a key contribution to broader strategic logistic initiatives.
The role will report to the Global Supply Chain Director based in Almere. Because this is a position with a lot of senior exposure, there are ample opportunities for growth.
