Fit For Free and SportCity are two of the biggest chains of gym clubs in the country and have recently switched owners. The Financial Controller professionalizes their methods and acts as a sparring partner for the Head of Financial Control and the business.

About Fit For Free & Sportcity

In 2009, Fit For Free and SportCity teamed up with the strategy to rapidly increase their market shares in the Netherlands. Over the past 10 years, the two brands doubled their revenue through impressive organic growth and selective acquisitions. Fit For Free now operates 93 clubs across the country and has about 330,000 members. SportCity has 20+ gyms and a total of 55,000 members.

In September 2018 Bencis Capital Partners acquired Fit For Free and SportCity. Bencis put in place new leadership and is looking to strengthen their growth and development strategy. This will enable further (international) expansion and allows Fit For Free and SportCity to continuously improve the quality of their gyms and services.

Vacancy: Financial Controller

The Financial Controller will support the finance departments of Fit For Free and SportCity to professionalize the organization. He/she reports directly to the Head of Financial Control and works closely together with the CFO and the accounting- and business control teams. Because of the short communication lines and exposure within the organization, Fit for Free is an empowering workplace.

The Financial Controller will be responsible for coordinating the financial consolidation, preparing the financial statements, communicate with the external accountant and external advisors and analyze performance as a sparring partner for the business control team.

Fit For Free and SportCity is professionalizing rapidly and the Financial Controller will need to coordinate optimizations and changes with the finance project teams. He/she works on the implementation of new processes and takes the lead in ad-hoc projects such as a new purchasing system and the setup of an internal control framework. This is an opportunity to build new processes from scratch and really add value to the business.

The Financial Controller is not just providing the numbers but acts as a sparring partner for the Head of Financial Control and the business.
