Every child loves to learn – that’s the philosophy behind Squla. The online educational program makes learning more fun and easier by experiences they enjoy in their daily lives. The learning platform has become a staple among Dutch households and ambitions are high. An analytical and entrepreneurial Finance Director will support Squla in its continued growth.
About Squla
The platform was developed in 2010 by parents, educational experts, designers, game experts and developers and was the first online program for children to practice all the primary school subjects at home. Every child can play at it’s own level. For extra exercise, more challenge or to improve; every child has other reasons to be happy with Squla! Parents take out a subscription and gain insight into the results and progress of their child. Over 140,000 children now play Squla at home and that number is growing every day. Squla is firmly committed to continued growth because its mission remains unchanged: to have all children improve through its unique ‘Fun Learning’ approach. The Finance Director ensures that this ambition is achieved by making (financial) data leading within Squla.
“We want to grow by increasing our reach, improving on our product and by increasing its lifetime. This requires investments. The Finance Director maps and decides when decisions need to be made in order to realize exactly that.” – Serge Bueters, CEO Squla
The challenge
The Finance Director facilitates and stimulates sustainable growth by collecting, analyzing and translating the right data into tangible management information, so that everyone always makes correct, deliberate decisions. In order to achieve this, the Finance Director sets up a tight financial organization in which he/she manages an Accountant and a Controller. With their help, he or she ensures that the right reports, analyses and forecasts are available throughout the organization to continuously manage current performance. In addition, the Finance Director supports and facilitates sustainable growth by providing comprehensive data and analysis to shape various (executive) decisions. He/she knows and understands the dynamics, funding and capital structures within a fast-growing scale-up and keeps them intact by determining whether, where and how much money is invested based on liquidity and risk analyses. Furthermore, the Finance Director plays a key role in shaping the future. He/she is actively involved in strategic projects such as the development of new products, acquisition of external parties and entering into or developing partnerships with partners and suppliers.
