With the introduction of a groundbreaking health app, Fit For Free and sister company Sportcity are providing the highly competitive fitness industry with a breath of fresh air. The QA Tester’s task is to guarantee every user the best possible user experience.
About Fit for Free
Unleashing a true online fitness revolution, that’s what Fit For Free and Sportcity have in mind. Olympus Investment, the parent company of both brands, aspires to become a state-of-the-art health and fitness platform. Following the acquisition by Bencis Capital Partners in 2018, a new management team has started to realize this ambition. An important element in all this is the focus on ‘digital fitness’.
The digital transformation is in full swing. Based on a successful pilot, a new app was launched at the end of 2019 to help members achieve their personal health goals. As it turns out, many members lose their motivation to exercise due to the lack of a personalized approach and the feeling that they never really have time. The new product, therefore, offers personalized workouts that you can add to your own online calendar. Furthermore, the app works with a machine-learning-based algorithm. The more someone uses the app, the more personalized to that specific user it becomes.
This is just the beginning. Olympus Investment is working on an integrated fitness journey that goes beyond the confines of the gym. A strong emphasis in the year 2020 will be on conducting a lot of research, investing in product development as well as designing and building new features. The focus is on ground-breaking functionalities inside, but especially outside the gym.
“Our main goal is to become the number one health app. In addition to sports and exercise, we are going to focus more on stress, sleep and nutrition. Think of it as a kind of life coach. This app is in line with our mission of growing old in happy & healthy fashion.” – Tim de Jardine, Chief Product Officer
The groundwork is already there, but there is still a lot of work to be done to reach the level of ‘gym 2.0’. That is why a new team is currently being formed to further expand this digital transition. The QA Tester continuously ensures the developed product works well for the users and, not entirely unimportant, he/she ensures it continues to work safely.
Vacancy: QA Tester
Under the watchful eye of the QA Tester, bugs will not find their way to the new health app. Thanks to him/her, the mobile application runs like a dream and the now 400,000 end users are treated to the very best user experience. If part of the app doesn’t run smoothly, the proactive QA Tester immediately springs into action. Together with the Developers or the Product Owner he/she eliminates possible obstacles. Therefore, this inquisitive personality always strives to adopt a solution-oriented approach. Moreover, he/she loves to brainstorm and work together with others in finding solutions to the challenges that lie ahead.
Fit For Free has a fast cycle of learning, always seeks to innovate and constantly strives for closer interaction with customers. That is why the focus is on discovering new possibilities. The QA Tester therefore not only inspects the application but also enjoys experimenting with it. He/she easily comes up with new ideas and is armed with a healthy dose of out-of-the-box thinking as well as a curious, inquisitive nature.
From automated test strategy and testing to improving test processes and drawing up risk analyses, all activities are agile. In addition to knowing all the ins and outs of the required testing tools, the QA Tester has a strongly developed commercial awareness. Because he/she easily understands consumer behavior, this person quickly gets a thorough understanding of the user’s wishes. This is extremely important because at Fit For Free the customer always comes first.
It’s good to know that he/she is the only QA Tester working within the tech team. However, for this enterprising and self-motivating person, this is no problem at all. The QA Tester reports to the Technology Lead and works from a new office in Amsterdam.
