Vacancy: IT Area Lead for Data Management
The IT Area Lead will define the vision for data management for DBNL, ING’s retail and business banking activities in the Netherlands. They will also develop the roadmap for data and analytics capabilities and lead the delivery by the agile teams, providing direction and ensuring quality and pace of release. The IT Area Lead will have about five direct reports (Chapter Leads) and manage a department of 130 data experts (e.g., engineers, analysts, and designers) located in The Netherlands,Romania, and India. The IT Area Lead will report to the Head of IT Customer & Data and work closely with the Tribe Lead of the Data Management Tribe and the Product Leads.

One of the primary responsibilities of the IT Area Lead will be to design and drive a transformation of the data architecture and associated way of working. They will develop the target architecture, including cloud services, data modeling, and a data analytics environment, and lead its step-by-step implementation. In developing the architecture, the IT Area Lead will work closely with teams from Global. Additionally, they will introduce a modular approach to multidisciplinary collaboration, establishing efficient teamwork between the data and IT experts and the business. Their efforts will create a first-class agile working environment, attract and retain the best engineers, and encourage innovative thinking around data, analytics, and AI.
Being end-to-end responsible for developing and executing the data management strategy for ING’s home market requires an IT Area Lead who can combine their expertise in data strategy, architecture, data management, and analytics with extensive managerial and transformation leadership experience. The ideal candidate has a background in architecture and delivery and supplements their technical know-how with solid people skills.
