THE POSITION: Strategy Manager e-Commerce
e-Commerce was a key driver of growth for the company in 2017, and having identified it as a continued area of focus, the company is putting together a new team to focus on shaping the growth strategy for e-commerce for the Hygiene Home business unit globally.
The Strategy Manager position is a newly created role within this e-Commerce team and will work under the Global Channel Development Director, Toni Marshall. Given the growth of the e-commerce sector, the team will continue to grow, so this is a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor.
“Working in an international company where you have the ability to act entrepreneurially and drive change, is truly unique. You drive your own career, and I really felt this was an environment in which I would thrive and develop.” – Toni Marshall, Global Channel Development Director
A key part of this position is to drive the growth of e-commerce for Hygiene/Home through the planning, execution and implementation of strategic projects. This includes research on macroeconomic trends, market competitive landscape and internal data to formulate and test strategy.
They’ll be working closely with the local in-market teams and using their understanding of macroeconomic trends and analytics-driven insights to establish the optimal go-to-market strategy for e-commerce growth. They’ll be developing the implementation roadmaps and the whitespace framework to ensure the best possible outcomes and be continually looking to evaluate and improve those plans.
Additionally, the Strategy Manager will work alongside the Global Channel Development Director to set up and negotiate the joint business plans between RB and global clients and e-commerce platforms.
“The Strategy Manager will support the geographical roll-out of Amazon markets, which presents a rare and unique opportunity to work with arguably the most important player in the modern global retail market on a groundbreaking expansion.” – Imke Peters, Senior Consultant at Top of Minds
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Candidates should have a degree from a top-tier university, preferably in business. A minimum of two years’ experience and a strategic consultancy or FMCG background are essential. Experience in e-commerce would certainly be an advantage.
The Strategy Manager is a position that necessitates a proactive personality, so they should be a self-starter who’s able to think creatively, and analytically too. They’ll be born project managers, who integrate accountability measures into their workflow as a matter of course and are not averse to challenging the status quo if they feel a more efficient and elegant solution can be found.
Given that success in local markets depends very much on a nuanced understanding of them, there’s a strong international focus and travel is an integral part of the position. The new Strategy Manager would likely spend around 30% of their time traveling, with the role being based in Amsterdam.
RB employees feel empowered to drive change because they understand that, although there’s a strong competitive culture, the company recognizes and rewards hard work and dedication. Results-driven candidates will thrive in this position.
