The lighting world is highly dynamic. Technological innovations follow in rapid succession. It is hard to imagine that until the middle of the 20th century we were still lighting our homes with gas or oil. Signify, formerly Philips Lighting, has been a pioneer of innovation and evolution in the lighting industry for 128 years. The Market Insights Manager has a major impact on the company, which is constantly evolving as a result of new technologies and digital transformations.
Signify was born to bring ideas to life and is the global market leader in lighting for professionals, consumers and Internet of Things.
Signify is a green company: this year it will be completely CO2 neutral. Their mission is to make the world more sustainable through energy efficient lighting systems.
Wherever there is lighting, there is Signify. From consumer products like the Hue smart lighting to professional solutions for companies and governments. For instance, they improve navigation through shops with visible light communication, develop horticultural lighting for vertical farms and are a pioneer in LiFi, the successor to WiFi: internet via light waves. In addition, Signify actively supports governments in the development of Smart Cities.
Energy-efficient lighting products, systems and services make people’s lives safer and more comfortable, companies work more efficiently and productively, and cities are more livable.
Signify is expanding its capabilities while at the same time creating impactful partnerships with leading global players (e.g. Apple, Cisco, Google, Bosch, SAP). With around 28,000 employees in 70 countries, they generate over 6 billion euros in annual sales.
Three megatrends drive the growth potential of the lighting market:
- Population growth and urbanization – more demand for light
- Resource challenges – more energy-efficient lighting
- Digitization – more connected lighting
