Few industries are as dynamic as the fintech industry. Flow Traders, a global market maker, is growing at an unprecedented pace. The HR Team Lead is responsible for 320 employees, coordinates multiple projects and plays a key strategic role in the future of HR at this successful company.
About Flow Traders
Back in the old days, trading on the trading floor literally meant ‘trading on the trading floor’. Those days are gone. Nowadays, trading is mainly determined by algorithms. The most successful players are those that can play into these algorithms more aptly than the competition. Flow Traders is one of the world’s largest liquidity providers – with impressive growth and profit figures to match. The organization employs over 500 people and has offices in Amsterdam, New York, Hong Kong, London, Singapore and Cluj (Romania).
Headquartered in Amsterdam, the company employs over 300 people of over 30 different nationalities. The company specializes in Exchange Traded Products (ETPs) and is expanding into cryptocurrencies, Foreign Exchange (FX) and Fixed Income. In an industry in which the pace of development is so rapid, Flow Traders expects the same from its employees.
What makes Flow Traders stand out is that it offers the size and capabilities of a large, international company, but at the same time still has the feeling and personal touch of a relatively small organization. There is plenty of room for Greenfield projects, and everyone is always keeping an eye out for new projects and challenges. As a result, the organization as a whole as well as its employees are constantly growing and evolving.
Great challenge
Working at Flow Traders is challenging in numerous ways. Employees are expected to always be up to date on all trends in the global trade market. Which makes Flow Traders an incredible place to work: you don’t come across an organization with so many talented, energetic and ambitious colleagues too often – all of them intrinsically driven to build a better business, create new possibilities and get the best out of themselves on a daily basis. The culture is team-oriented and has a strong focus on the development and well-being of its employees. Also, there aren’t many people that can state that they work in an office where, in addition to their own bar, there is also a gym with in-house personal trainers.
Vacancy: HR Team Lead
In such a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, good HR is pivotal. The HR Team Lead determines the presence as well as the future of HR for Flow Traders on a global level. Responsibilities vary from thought leadership and organizational development to managing changes at operational level. The HR Team Lead develops policies, programs, processes and measures that support the organization’s business objectives – both in the short and the long term. Areas of focus include organizational design, leadership development, performance management, compensation and HR automation. She/he explores opportunities, creates business cases, presents them to the team and plays an active role in implementation and follow-up.
Motivational coach for team members
The HR Team Lead leads the HR team, which consists of six people in total (three HR Business Partners and two HR Generalists) – all working from the Amsterdam HQ. All 320 employees at the Amsterdam office fall directly under the responsibility of the HR Team Lead. People management is inextricably linked to the role: she/he not only functions as a manager, but also as an inspiring coach and a dedicated mentor.
Leadership qualities, a strategic eye, experience with project and people management and an unrelenting drive for operational excellence are key drivers for the HR Team Lead. She/he thrives optimally in a competitive, high-paced environment in which everyone demands the absolute best from each other. The HR Team Lead reports directly to Global Head of HR & Recruitment, Mirjam de Meij.
