Fenix Outdoor stands for outdoor adventure, time spent in nature and globetrotting. The company has loyal customers from all over the world, both online and offline, for products like their beloved Swedish backpack. Data insights from the Global Logistics BI Manager help make the global logistics process run smoothly.

About Fenix Outdoor

Fenix Outdoor International is a Swedish company focused on producing and selling outdoor products. That includes sleeping bags, backpacks, tents, compasses, outdoor clothing, and binoculars. Although the company’s origins lie in Sweden, Fenix Outdoor operates worldwide. Their primary focus is in Northern Europe, with strong growth markets in the US and Canada.
Fenix Outdoor is split into two divisions: Brands and Retail. The Brands division develops, produces, markets, and sells outdoor and recreational products under its own brands, like the wildly popular Fjällräven. The Retail division has three retail chains (including Globetrotter), where they sell outdoor, recreational, and travel products in company-owned stores, franchise formats, and through e-commerce and mail order businesses.

“Our global company has a strong family culture, with a passion for our outdoor business and plenty of room for personal freedom.” – Marcel Gerrits, Global Supply Chain Director Fenix Outdoor Logistics

As a business unit, Fenix Outdoor Logistics is responsible for logistics in both divisions from start to finish, including warehouse stock management. The Supply Chain Excellence Center (SCEC) plays a crucial role in that process. It’s built on three pillars: Business Intelligence (BI), Warehouse Management System (WMS), and Business Process Management (BPM). The BI team has an in-house data warehouse and provides the organization with a single point of truth around logistics data.
The compact SCEC is staffed by five people working in a hybrid model, partly from the office in Almere and partly remotely. The team is looking for a new Global Logistics BI Manager to lead the BI pillar, so they can use data from the global market to respond even better to continuously changing conditions.

Vacancy: Global Logistics BI Manager

BI is invaluable. This is certainly true in Fenix Outdoor’s customer-oriented, international logistics process. Which popular products will customers buy online or via the retail channel tomorrow, so that they need to be in stock today? What does the ideal dashboard look like for Fenix Outdoor buyers? How can they get a quick insight into supplier delivery times? These are the kinds of questions the Global Logistics BI Manager will try to answer.
This role takes on ultimate responsibility for data analysis, reporting, and consulting on logistics processes within the company. The Global Logistics BI Manager’s role is broad, from implementing process improvements in the BI system to answering ad hoc questions from various internal customers.
The Global Logistics BI Manager is involved in a wide range of activities. Taking a thorough deep dive into operational processes, advising on opportunities for improvement, managing incoming reporting requests, and asking questions to get to the bottom of an issue – it’s all part of the Global Logistics BI Manager’s job. They set priorities and guarantee proper follow-up.

The Global Logistics BI Manager should combine a hands-on attitude with a focus on the future. They can independently set up both the back-end and front-end of the BI system, make sure it works well, and implement changes or improvements. In the short term, this expert will be part of implementing a uniform, global reporting model and standardizing BI activities for the various physical warehouses. There’s also an Azure cloud migration of the BI data warehouse in the pipeline. Essentially, the Global Logistics BI Manager will be keeping many balls in the air at the same time, adding value to the logistics process around the world.

“We have a wealth of information that we can potentially use to achieve great business benefits. The Global Logistics BI Manager is the right person to make data tell the right story.” – Jasper Greven, Manager Supply Chain Excellence Center

The Global Logistics BI Manager will maintain close contact with internal stakeholders. That includes colleagues from the IT team as well as Supervisors and Operations Managers in the warehouses and Purchasing or Sales employees. The Global Logistics BI Manager will join forces with them to optimize logistics planning, improve logistics processes, and develop the approach from reactive and ad hoc to proactive and planned. This leader will also manage a BI specialist within the team.
The Global Logistics BI Manager will work internationally with colleagues from multiple countries to provide advice to the physical warehouse organizations in the Netherlands (Almere), the United States, Canada, Norway, the United Kingdom, and Germany. The Global Logistics BI Manager is incredibly flexible, so they’ll feel right at home in this culturally diverse environment. This is the perfect role for a self-starting professional who takes initiative and is ready for a bigger stage to prove their mettle.
