About DCSA

The Digital Container Shipping Association (DCSA) is a nonprofit, independent organization which was established in 2019 by several of the largest container shipping companies in the world to digitize and standardize the container shipping industry. The company currently has some 20 employees and covers over 70% of global container trade. It drives initiatives to make container transportation services transparent, reliable, easy to use, secure, and environmentally friendly. DCSA’s open-source standards are developed based on input from DCSA member carriers, industry stakeholders, and technology experts from other industries.

Vacancy: Digital Program Project Manager

The Digital Program Project Manager manages and is responsible for the digital standards development program of e-Documentation. This top-priority program will set standards by which to digitalize the industry’s documentationThe first publication (Dec ’20) of the multi-year DCSA e-Documentation initiative was focused on the issuance of the bill of lading (B/L). The upcoming topics on the roadmap include bylaws, electronic transfer of title, booking process, and other certificates. Creating these digital standards for the shipping industry involves alignment with numerous stakeholders in the supply chain including banks, solutions providers, regulatory bodies, and others.

Working with a team of consultants and experts from across the industry and across the world, the Digital Program Project Manager is the driving force behind ensuring projects stay on track and on budget, managing the team, timelines, resources, deliverables.  It’s thereby key to identify and manage potential project risks and mitigation plans. Apart from developing digital standards, adoption by the industry is crucial.

In addition, the right person for the job is responsible for organizing and conducting industry meetings and workshops, to ensure goals are aligned between the leadership team and key industry members. Therefore, strong stakeholder management and communication skills are highly valuable. In this context, the Digital Program Project Manager not only initiates and drives the digitization process but also develops and expands DCSA’s external network to continue to promote the digitization story.

The Digital Program Project Manager is also involved in defining the business case, project scope, and goals, together with DCSA leadership. The role reports to Niels Nuyens, Program Director, and will work closely together with the leadership.
