The Greenery
The Greenery is a Dutch cooperative of more than 500 Dutch and foreign agricultural companies with a market in 57 countries. On Dutch soil, the cooperative is the preferred supplier for Jumbo Supermarkets, for instance, but also for various innovative e-commerce parties. As chain director, The Greenery connects the supply and demand sides. The recipe for success consists of the combined strengths of growers, a finely-meshed logistics network, a strong IT infrastructure and commercial expertise. This is how The Greenery provides its customers – both Retail and Trade – with a fresher and more extensive assortment than any other trade organisation in the sector. Sustainability, big data, innovation and quality assurance are key themes for The Greenery.
Strategy: Growing Together
Climate development, health trends, technological advances, economies of scale in horticulture and the rise of e-commerce for the Fresh category have a major impact on The Greenery. In collaboration with KPMG, a strategy for the coming years has therefore been developed: Growing Together. The strategy focuses on developing new revenue models, value creation and strategic partnerships. To give an example: a few years ago, The Greenery launched its own meal box in the market: Fresh Harvest. Not to compete with other players in this segment, but to get to know the business model from the inside, enabling The Greenery to be a better partner for other meal box providers.
