About Simon Lévelt
A lot has happened since Simon Lévelt opened its store selling coffee and tea from faraway places in the old ports of Amsterdam in 1826. What began as a passionate trader who sold only to private individuals from his small store grew into a highly valued coffee and tea brand with more than forty stores throughout the Netherlands and Belgium.
No matter how many stores were added in those two centuries, one core value of the company was not compromised: each new specialty store – both franchised and managed in-house – had to exude the same intrinsic passion for coffee and tea. Simon Lévelt is much more than just high-quality coffee and tea; the brand stands for an authentic experience. Anyone who is helped by a barista or tea sommelier in a Simon Lévelt specialty store feels as if they are in a starred restaurant. Personal attention, passion for the product and customer focus are of paramount importance at Simon Lévelt.
Sustainability pioneer
At least as high in that same banner is sustainability. Not for nothing is Simon Lévelt a true pioneer in this field: the brand started selling organically cultivated products as early as the end of the 1970s. Currently, some 70% of the Simon Lévelt range is certified organic. They are happy with that at the Haarlem headquarters, but not satisfied by a long shot. They will not be until the assortment is completely organic – and they are working hard towards that.
Purchasing and roasting the coffee is done in-house, as is mixing the tea and packaging all the products. Which, by the way, are sold not only in specialty stores, but also in health food stores, supermarkets and through the wholesale market. The new Key Account Manager is responsible for solid, sustainable growth in all these channels.
