The Postcode Lottery Group originated from the Nationale Postcode Loterij. Today, it is an international organization that supports hundreds of charities through the proceeds of various lotteries. To keep the player database and lottery draws secure in an increasingly digital organization, an International Team Lead Security is being appointed.
Postcode Lottery Group Background
Shortly after World War II, the concept of lotteries with a social spending mission was frequently used in the Netherlands: various organizations raised funds through lotteries for reconstruction efforts. In 1961, these initiatives united to form a formal ‘charity lottery,’ and nearly thirty years later, in 1989, former employees of Novib founded the Nationale Postcode Loterij.
The Nationale Postcode Loterij gained fame through TV commercials, the well-known envelopes on doorsteps, and TV shows like Miljoenenjacht. Participating is fun and can change the lives of an individual or an entire street. Meanwhile, it also makes the world a better place, as the proceeds are donated to charities for people and nature. By 2024, the Nationale Postcode Loterij has managed to involve a large part of Dutch households in contributing financially to good causes through a commercial approach. Since its inception, more than eight billion euros have been donated to charities, placing the organization among the top three largest donors worldwide.
The Postcode Lottery Group is now also active in other countries. Germany and the United Kingdom are still growth markets; Norway and Sweden are as mature as the Netherlands in terms of brand recognition and enthusiasm. The Postcode Lottery Group is primarily a data organization: the addresses and other data of millions of participants must be collected and stored securely. Public trust is also crucial for a lottery: people must be able to trust that the draw is fair. The Gaming Authority oversees this and expects audits and reports. The International Team Lead Security ensures adequate IT security policies in this context.
Vacancy: International Team Lead Security
The International Team Lead Security develops a vision for shaping security, data protection, and tech auditing and is responsible for implementing this vision at the group

This role reports to one of the three managing directors in the Netherlands, who also oversees Risk and Legal. The International Team Lead Security standardizes, monitors, and optimizes processes and guidelines on all these topics. They identify risks related to information and data protection and ensure that the international matrix organization complies with compliance requirements and ISO 27001 standards. They also monitor, evaluate, and report on the implementation and adherence to policies. The International Team Lead Security is also responsible for security awareness within the organization. They build excellent relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, provide knowledge sharing, and promote the Group’s cybersecurity and privacy policies through formal and informal channels. In coordinating the response to security incidents, they are the first point of contact.
