About Mileway

With a pan-European footprint of 1,600 owned and managed assets across ten European markets, Mileway is the number one real estate player of the European last-mile logistics industry. Most of those assets are small warehouses close to the big cities. This enables Mileway clients such as online supermarkets and on-demand delivery services to be close to their own customers. Mileway’s top markets are the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, France, and Sweden. Together, they represent over 80% of the portfolio. Mileway also has a growing presence in the Nordics and Southern Europe.

Mileway was launched in 2019 by Blackstone Real Estate as their first European start-up company. Blackstone is a leading owner of logistics properties globally. The Mileway launch followed several other investments in the logistics sector.

Over the past two years, the company has grown a dedicated team of over 400 employees plus 150 freelancers, with a local presence in each of its markets. To steer Mileway’s stormy growth in the right direction – and to accelerate it even further – data insights are an utmost necessity to make the right decisions. Almost from scratch, the Data Enterprise Architect designs a highly scalable data platform as the foundation for countless strategic decisions within Mileway’s current and future European operation.

From data to actionable business insights
The Data Enterprise Architect must be well-connected with all stakeholders in the entire organization. With sharp business analysis, they quickly determine where the information questions lie in the various teams and develop data warehousing and business intelligence solutions accordingly. This means asking the right questions while also understanding how the business uses the data and challenging and prioritizing their requests. As such, this position is at the core of creating valuable, actionable insights that allow the business to accelerate its growth further.

The basis is now laid, with a basic Data Warehouse solution in Azure, based on SQL Server DB, and Tableau. However, the future has more in store. The wish list includes data science solutions to work more predictively and the first steps in IoT for building management.

Decisive leadership
Apart from being an architect, this person is also the Product Owner of the data platform and, as such, manages three cross-functional product teams of six persons each.
