Six months after its founding, House of Data has already secured its first data center location in the Randstad area. Construction is set to begin this autumn; the design phase is now underway. The CTO will lay out the technical foundation for this first site and all future locations, building the backbone of an ambitious European data center platform.
About House of Data
Demand for data processing capacity in Europe is outpacing the infrastructure needed to support it. At the same time, industrial sites across the continent hold a valuable yet vulnerable asset: high-capacity power connections that are often lost when a company vacates a site. House of Data addresses this proactively with a proprietary AI tool that identifies these locations at an early stage.
The company engages with site owners one to two years ahead of vacancy or closure, ensuring the grid connection is retained and redevelopment can begin in time. Depending on the location, existing structures are fully or partially demolished, or repurposed into data centers. The result is a portfolio of co-location data centers ranging from 2 to 25 MW, built on sites with secured power capacity and a clear development trajectory.
House of Data was founded by Thijs Algra (former Director at Otrium, €750M+ valuation), Max van Eck, and Maarten den Hartoog (Founder and Managing Director of Today Real Estate Development, responsible for over €500M in European logistics projects). Together, they combine venture building, capital markets expertise, and complex real estate development. Momentum is building: a second location is already in progress, and acquisitions in Belgium and Germany are well underway.
Vacancy: Chief Technology Officer
The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) takes immediate ownership of the technical development of the first co-location data center, setting the standard for all future sites. They will develop a scalable, repeatable build concept for rollout across Europe and establish robust operations and maintenance frameworks to ensure long-term reliability.
The role spans the full lifecycle: from defining technical requirements and delivering execution-ready designs to managing contractors and installation partners, with full oversight of timelines, quality, and budget.
Externally, the CTO serves as the technical face of House of Data, engaging with investors, clients, municipalities, and utility providers. As the organization scales, the role will evolve into a combined CTO/COO position, with end-to-end responsibility for both technology and operations.
“We have a first location, a concrete construction plan, and growing traction in the market. This is the moment to step in and have a direct impact on how the platform takes technical shape.” – Thijs Algra, CEO
This role is suited to a CTO with a proven track record in designing and delivering data centers, ideally including the redevelopment of existing (industrial) real estate. The successful candidate combines technical excellence with an entrepreneurial mindset, contributing proactively to the company’s direction and taking ownership of its development — with equity as part of the package.
