To inspire, inform and connect people. That is the mission of international media group Sanoma. The originally Finnish company has annual revenues of around €1.5 billion, of which more than €800 million are generated in the Business Unit BeNe (Belgium + Netherlands). To grow further within the constantly changing media landscape, a transformation was initiated in 2014. CHRO Gieta Veersma: “We have a challenging portfolio and high ambitions. Sanoma in the Netherlands

Sanoma is the strongest media company in the Netherlands. With brands such as Autoweek, LINDA, vtwonen, Donald Duck, Veronica, Kieskeurig and NU.nl, Sanoma is the cross-media provider of media and marketing solutions. Magazines, events, customer media, online and mobile – Sanoma is at home in all markets. Its recent transformation already resulted in business success in the Netherlands in 2015. The ambition is to accelerate organic sales growth across all brands. Strategic projects include cross-media marketing and pricing strategies.

Domain strategy

2014 and 2015 were marked by a major transformation for Sanoma. The portfolio was reduced to the strongest brands within four market-driven domains: Home Deco, Automotive, Kids & Teens and Women. Significant investments are being made in TV and digital media so that these domains can be managed through cross-channel propositions. Proof of the potential of our domain strategy is vtwonen. Originally, this brand stood only for a website and living magazine. It was later joined by a TV format and the Woonbeurs Amsterdam was renamed vt wonen&design fair. This mono-brand approach resulted in a substantial increase in magazine circulation, viewership, traffic and turnover of the web store and visitors to the event.
