Anyone who has ever needed to use the toilet at a train station, petrol station or shopping centre knows the stress that can sometimes come with it. Or rather: ‘used to’ come with it. Because thanks to ONE HUNDRED restrooms, a visit to the toilet has become a moment of well-being and self-care. A clean and comfortable toilet alone is not enough; the entire concept has been completely overhauled. The result is a toilet experience that combines sustainable design, hospitality and smart technology. In recent years, the company has won several international design awards, including the IF Design Award, the Muse Design Award and the Grand Prix du Design Award.
An international success story
In 2018, the first flagship location opened in the La Vaguada shopping centre in Madrid. In the years that followed, dozens of branches opened in Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium and France. The network now comprises almost ninety locations, on motorways, at train stations and in major shopping centres, from Hoog Catharijne in Utrecht to Nordstan in Gothenburg. Partnerships with organisations such as TotalEnergies, Circle K, Fastned and Klépierre form the basis of the growth and success, as does visitor satisfaction – they rate the toilet experience with a generous 9.0. In doing so, the organisation proves that scaling up does not have to come at the expense of quality.
Working at ONE HUNDRED
‘Together, we are ONE HUNDRED’. This slogan captures the sense of togetherness within the organisation and the atmosphere at the head office in Amsterdam. Here, nearly thirty people work daily on the continuous innovation of the concept. It is an international team, with people – from architects to field coaches and finance professionals – who take ownership and are proud of what they are building. The culture is open and direct, with plenty of scope for initiative and humour. ONE HUNDRED is scaling up rapidly, but in doing so it is not losing sight of what makes the organisation so special: its entrepreneurial spirit, short lines of communication and the drive to make a real impact.
