International market position
Essity is one of the strongest-growing, most dynamic companies within FMCG. Internationally, it makes people’s lives better with everyday essentials in personal hygiene. Examples include Edet, Tempo, Libresse and TENA. Worldwide, Essity has 60 brands, 44,000 employees, annual sales of €10.7 billion and a share price that has tripled in five years. As the owner of a continuously expanding forest the size of Switzerland, it is also one of the greenest companies in the world.
Working at Essity Netherlands
The wooded surroundings of Essity’s headquarters are ideal for getting a breath of fresh air and a fresh perspective. This is also reflected in the proactive initiatives and positive energy with which the team markets brands such as Demak’Up, Edet, Libresse, Plenty, Tempo and TENA for Dutch consumers, and Tork in the business market. Besides the head office in Zeist, there are production and logistics sites throughout the country. In total, Essity Netherlands has 1,400 employees. The sales organisation is organised into three Business Units: Consumer Goods, Away from Home and Incontinence Care. All members of the commercial organisation are also members of a multidisciplinary Brand Team. In Consumer Goods, there is a lot of young talent bubbling with energy, good initiatives and impressive results.
Dynamic negotiating position
Essity makes products that people cannot live without, be it toilet paper, sanitary pads or incontinence care. Demand for TENA is increasing due to an ageing population and ever-increasing awareness. Retailers find this interesting, as the growth of this category is not at the expense of other categories. The negotiations for Libresse are very different as there is more competition while the market for feminine hygiene products is shrinking as women are more likely to take the contraceptive pill throughout the month. Demand for toilet paper is stable, but here private labels are booming. Given its sales and profit contribution, Essity is an important partner for retailers. This makes for a dynamic negotiating position.
