About De nationale Postcode Loterij
Commercials featuring BN’ers – and international luminaries like Bill Clinton and George Clooney – or golden envelopes on the mat. Who does not know the National Postcode Lottery? Since 1989, this organisation has been involving a large part of the Dutch (and now also British, German, Swedish and Norwegian) population in charity by introducing a game and profit element. Since its inception, more than seven billion euros have been distributed to charities in this way.
A special history
The concept of lotteries with a social spending mission has existed in the Netherlands for centuries. Even just after World War II, this concept was frequently used: various organisations raised money for reconstruction through lotteries. In 1961, these initiatives united into a formal ‘charity lottery’ and just under 30 years later, in 1989, the next step was taken: led by former Novib employees, the National Postcode Lottery was founded. Its ambitions now reach worldwide and its mission remains unchanged: to raise funds and awareness for good causes. All jobs at the Postcode Lottery Group are dedicated to this mission.
Moving towards digital first
Anno 2024, advertisements on TV are seen less and paper mail is no longer preferred by many. High time, therefore, to make the Postcode Lottery an international digital-first organisation. To this end, the Postcode Lottery Group is building a new, overarching and interdisciplinary tech organisation. The Postcode Lottery Group is working hard to achieve a scalable and best-in-class customer experience in all five countries, based on the vision that a digital first organisation is best positioned to reach the largest possible group of customers and serve them as effectively as possible.
