From strategy to execution: the role of the Chief Operating Officer
As the right hand of the founder or CEO, the Chief Operating Officer – or in some organizations the Head of Operations or Operations Manager – acts as the link between vision and execution. The COO translates strategic objectives into an effective and scalable operation that supports growth, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. To achieve this, the COO develops the operational roadmap, structures departments, sets KPIs, and ensures the organization’s foundation is ready for further growth. Coordination between internal departments such as operations, IT, finance, HR, customer service, production, and supply chain is essential. The Chief Operating Officer ensures clear structure and efficient collaboration that provides stability in an environment where change is the norm.
COO vacancies: building scalability and operational structure
Organizations in growth or transition need processes and structures that evolve with them. The COO works with the Head of Operations or Operations Manager to build a strong organizational foundation prepared for expansion and change. This includes designing or redesigning processes, selecting and implementing the right tools, and building an organization capable of measuring and improving performance. Often, this also involves setting up or enhancing supply chains and production capacity, for example in the context of contract manufacturing.
Leadership in execution and culture
The Chief Operations Officer usually leads a team of operational managers, monitors performance, and ensures clear reporting lines to the executive team or shareholders. The COO combines structure and calm with the ability to motivate teams and strengthen a culture of accountability and leadership.
