Running an online classifieds platform is a very data-driven affair. All strategic decisions stem from careful consideration of the hard facts and numbers. Both dubizzle and OLX have some impacting developments to work on this year: further monetization of the platform requires a tailored pricing strategy, setting up vertical businesses around the Cars and Real Estate categories calls for market research and competitive intelligence, and ensuring growth in newly entered markets can only be done after diving deep into the data. Type of work

As a Strategy & Intelligence Manager you are the go-to person for all projects that benefit from first tier consulting grade analysis. You work very closely with one of the General Managers and have close interaction with other departments such as product, marketing, finance and customer support.

Daily work is a mix of performance analyses, development and execution of the strategy. There will be a lot of requests on your plate, but you prove your worth by initiating your own research as well. The key to success here is analytical rigor coupled with conceptual thinking to present outcomes that are relevant to the audience.

Requirements

You were trained in strategic thinking, data analysis, the use of tools, report presentation and multi-level interaction at one of the first tier consulting firms. And now you want to get closer to the action. As you have an absolute passion for online, you quickly find your bearings in the agile world of online classifieds and adapt to a culture that knows when to go 80/20 instead of 100/0 when it comes boiling the ocean of data. Data modelling and SQL are your preferred means to a business end. Fluent English is a must.
