Sqills is a trusted partner for global passenger transportation operators who rely on their mission-critical software for seamless passenger ticket sales and distribution. To support its ongoing growth, Sqills is enhancing talent development within their teams, thanks to the addition of a Senior Developer and Team Coach.

About Sqills

Netherlands-based Sqills’ vision is to support a world that offers transportation operators with a seamless travel experience. They empower passenger transportation operators worldwide with S3 Passenger, their proprietary software for multi-channel sales and distribution. As part of Siemens Mobility, Sqills belongs with a global network of professionals and strategic partners, and a growing list of international clients.

Founded in 2002 as a software company, Sqills entered the railway and passenger transportation market in 2005, thanks to their partnership with NS, the Dutch national railway operator. They have since evolved from a project-driven to a product-driven organisation between 2008 and 2020, to align with a singular focus on passenger transportation operations.

Today, Sqills has become the market leader in Europe, with a dominant presence in countries such as Ireland, France, Spain, Portugal, and Sweden. Their new strategy is to strengthen their European leadership position while establishing leadership in other global territories, such as North America. Within a growing, sustainable market of public transportation that is opening up worldwide to more competition and change, Sqills is uniquely positioned as a trusted and disruptive software partner.

To consistently enhance the quality of their service and their proprietary S3 Passenger software, and to support ongoing growth, Sqills is professionalising its teams’ talent guidance and development. They continue to innovate and improve the stability and quality of their platform, which are key areas of responsibility for development teams. To support the teams’ ongoing growth, they are looking for an experienced Senior Developer and Team Coach.

Vacancy: Senior Developer and Team Coach

The Senior Developer and Team Coach will lead and guide one of fourteen DevOps teams, which is made up of around ten developers and testers. They will set objectives, manage tasks by collaborating with the Product Owner, and ensure the team meets its goals and objectives, which includes contributing hands-on to development projects. In addition, and as importantly, they will be responsible for team motivation, culture, and individual development.

This role will be based in Enschede or in Amersfoort,  and work on location about fifty percent of the time. They will join a team of around 200 knowledgeable, talented professionals, many of whom have been with Sqills for ten years.

As Sqills strives to maintain its high product quality, there is plenty of space to innovate and experiment with new technology, while major decisions are left to the DevOps teams. That’s why it’s important for the Senior Developer and Team Coach to have a solid technical background while being passionate about exploring and learning new technologies. To fully succeed in their Team Coach role, the new Senior Developer must also have valuable communication skills.

This is an exciting challenge for a Senior Developer with a strong technical background and a proven track record in coaching and leadership. It’s an opportunity to make their mark technically and in talent development, within a successful, growing company on a journey to achieve global leadership in the world of passenger transportation.
