Business Intelligence at global level

OLX is present in 40 countries across the emerging markets of the world. As these countries vary widely in culture, technological advancement and internet savviness, the group offers ample autonomy to each country. Product, marketing , customer experience, all tailored to the local needs and ability. That poses a challenge when you are looking for reports and analysis on your entire business. And here the global business intelligence team comes in. One place for CEO Martin Scheepbouwer to find the truth about how OLX is doing.

A big effort underway

At OLX many people work in business intelligence. Most countries have their own analyst(s) and in the four regional hubs substantial teams have formed. In line with the abovementioned autonomy, they all use their own tools and applications, which they will continue to do, but a large project is underway to build a new data warehouse and new dashboards to pull out data for global reporting and analysis. Everybody is on board with this and eagerly looking forward to have clear visibility on OLX’ performance against key metrics.

The team

The customer analytics team is part of the larger CLM & BI team of around 30 highly skilled experts. Strategy Consultants work side by side with Data Engineers. All make the effort to bridge the gap between business and technology and understand each other. The customer analytics team is new, because BI was not done at global level yet. Next to the manager, there will be 3 analysts, of which one is in place already and two are vacant. This vacancy revolves around the ownership of the Tableau dashboards.

Vacancy: Senior Customer Insights Analyst

The Senior Customer Insight Analyst in this team is driven by business questions and applies technical skills to answer them. SQL is a given, but you’re not just creating reports and pulling out facts and figures, you go further. You’re a storyteller. The insights you find lead you to build propositions that affect the business. This means you’re a wizard when it comes to (PowerPoint) presentations that decision makers will see, comprehend and act upon. As an Analyst, you have to submerge yourself in the online classifieds business to understand the ins and outs, so there is constant interaction with stakeholders throughout the organization.

Requirements

A minimum of five years experience in business intelligence in the B2C online industry is a must for this role, as are top notch quantitative and analytical skills. A good track record in building convincing presentations based on analysis. Advanced skills in SQL. Experience with Tableau is a plus.
