As an online auction platform for rare objects and collectibles, Catawiki connects sellers and bidders from all around the world. Examples of objects currently under the hammer: an original Rietveld chair, an authentic Imperial Fabergé egg and a 007 film poster signed by Roger Moore. The growth strategy is ambitious and includes attracting new users, increasing the engagement of existing users and encouraging bidders to become sellers and vice versa. That’s why a new position is created for a seasoned Senior CRM Specialist.
One the fastest growing tech companies in Europe
Catawiki is a Dutch scale-up. Founded in an attic in 2008, it is now a global auction platform. They pocketed the Deloitte Technology Fast50 twice in a row in 2015 and 2016. Their further growth plans are ambitious, both in terms of geography and scale. Their mission is to make rare collectibles available to everyone around the world. To do so, they host 35,000 weekly auctions in categories such as art, classic cars, coins, jewelry and iconic toys. Although they’re growing rapidly, their office at the WeWork Metropool in Amsterdam still has that start-up vibe to it: a multicultural mosaic of highly talented professionals appreciating each other’s talents and knowing how to succeed as a team. Vacancy: Senior CRM Specialist
This is a new position at Catawiki, in line with the ambitious goals of the scale-up. The Senior CRM Specialist will develop the CRM strategy, determine the medium-term roadmap, optimize the CRM tools, streamline processes and build a CRM team. In charge of the development, execution and optimization of the data-driven CRM program across 18+ countries. The focus channels are email and app push notifications. To give an idea of the current scale: Catawiki sends out about 20 million e-mails a month, predominantly focused on retention. Under the Senior CRM Specialist, this will expand rapidly in a structured and strategic way. Some of the main goals will be:
- Activation of new Catawiki users
- Reactivation of inactive or dormant users
- Increasing conversion of bidders to sellers
- Setting up dripped campaigns based on triggers in the customer journey
- Automation of proprietary CRM tooling
- Diversification and decentralization of campaigns
- Reporting on campaigns (using A/B tests and analytics to optimize all activity)
- Investigating deliverability in order to improve inbox placement of emails sent by Catawiki
The Senior CRM Specialist will report directly to the CMO and work closely together with Business Intelligence team for insights and the Product Management team for development.
“I joined Catawiki half a year ago, and over that time the pace of development has been incredible. For example, as a team, we have created and rolled out a new push notifications system across the iOS and Android apps as well as through the Chrome web API and the Apple push notification service (APN). We have improved the internal messaging system for buyers and sellers and last but not least, we have developed a proprietary marketing automation tool, which selects audience and data via SQL queries as input. I look forward to joining forces with the new Senior CRM Specialist to create tangible results.” – Malte Niepel, Product Owner CRM & Messaging
Currently, there is quite a centralized approach as content is developed in English and – after approval – rolled out to other languages. As many countries have their own unique target audiences and cultural characteristics, geographic diversification is one of the areas of growth potential for CRM. Therefore, the Senior CRM Specialist will also work closely with the Country Managers of high-growth markets. In order to fulfill the growth ambitions, the Senior CRM Specialist is also expected to build a team of high-potential CRM Marketeers.
