Vacancy: Plastics Material Expert

Responsible for developing innovative solutions for Cordstrap’s most important strategic challenges, the Plastics Material Expert will play an integral part in the company’s future success. They will lead the implementation of fundamental shifts in Cordstrap’s approach to plastics utilization methods and materials, aligning the product portfolio with customer needs, improving the product design, as well as sustainability, and driving efficiencies.

The Plastics Material Expert will spearhead initiatives that assess and challenge the stability, output, and cost performance of Cordstrap’s main production assets. An expert in materials science, they will provide insights to Cordstrap’s procurement teams and conduct structured root cause analyzes to identify areas for improvement.

Applying a commercial mindset, the Plastics Material Expert will evaluate and challenge customer application requirements, and continuously innovate and align the products with customer needs. In the short term, this role will focus on improving and simplifying three areas of product design and production. They will identify opportunities for improvement in production processes and equipment design, leveraging alternatives to current materials to optimize total production costs and increase sustainability. This includes incorporating recycled materials into Cordstrap’s products or modifying them to enhance recyclability, and reduce its environmental footprint.

To succeed, this role is proactive, hands-on, and extremely detail oriented. They have extensive knowledge about plastics and the chemicals used to make them and stay on top of market trends and competitor developments. A confident leader and project manager, they are an excellent communicator who collaborates with internal and external stakeholders. Creative and innovative, they know how to foster buy-in when implementing change, and enable smooth transitions when introducing new processes and materials.
