Broad Horizon is an IT service provider specializing in data, digital transformation, and cloud. Backed by PE investor EMK, the company is implementing a successful buy-and-build strategy. In this dynamic and growth-focused environment, the Group Controller will be responsible for managing the full scope of financial processes.

About Broad Horizon

Broad Horizon is an IT service provider that helps its clients use data and IT in a smarter way. The company leverages its expertise in cloud, infra, workplace, data, AI, and business applications to deliver a complete portfolio of world-class IT services, with Microsoft as its primary technology partner. Broad Horizon employs about a thousand people, is active in the Benelux and Northern Europe, and caters to SMEs and large corporate accounts, enabling them to thrive in the digital future.

Broad Horizon was born out of the fusing of several companies, each offering specific solutions to specific problems. The businesses that comprise Broad Horizon – e.g., True, Cmotions, Pink Elephant, DMP, and Iquality – operate independently. In its headquarters in Amsterdam, a small team of experienced executives supports the different entities, stimulating entrepreneurship and accelerating growth through broader market access and profitability improvements.

“M&A is one of our key growth drivers. While we foster synergies between our businesses, we do not strive for operational integration. The companies continue to operate under their historic brands, supported by robust and lightweight group functions designed to facilitate transformative growth.” – Jean-Yves Charlier, CEO

In 2020, Broad Horizon became part of the portfolio of London-based private equity investor EMK Capital. With the support of its investor, Broad Horizon has accelerated its buy-and-build strategy, averaging three to four transactions every year.

This year, the company expects to report revenues exceeding two hundred million euros and has the ambition to grow substantially in 2023 and beyond, both organically and through M&A.

Vacancy: Group Controller

Next to financial management activities the Group controller will focus on value creation using data driven insights for strategic, tactical and operational decision making. They will execute on our value agenda such as M&A and onboarding of new business. They will also be involved in overarching strategic improvement projects such as org structure optimizations. The Group Controller will be part of the Group’s Finance MT, report to the CFO (a former Strategy Consultant at McKinsey), and work with the leadership teams of Broad Horizon’s businesses.

“Broad Horizon is ambitious and entrepreneurial. The challenge of the Group Controller lies in value creation while using a data driven approach.”– Marc Grasso, CFO

Analytics will be a crucial part of the role. The Group Controller will develop clear reports, dashboards, templates, and other control tools that enable business executives to make high-quality decisions. They will work closely with the CEO and CFO, providing them with data-driven insights they can use in their interactions with Broad Horizon’s shareholders and lenders and their performance management discussions with the businesses. This will require the Group Controller to distill patterns, trends, and disruptions from extensive sets of financial data.

Another main responsibility of the Group Controller will be to run the planning and control cycle, which includes budgeting, forecasting, business control, and management information. This duty will ask for close collaboration with the leadership teams of Broad Horizon’s businesses. The Group Controller will ensure consistent and top-notch financial plans and guide the businesses through the process with tact and empathy. Currently, the financial operations are mostly excel-based. Over time, the Group Controller will implement future-proof, automated tools to improve efficiency and scalability.

The position is a strong fit for a finance professional with strong consulting skills who gets energized by tackling complex issues in a rapidly developing organization and is not afraid to step in and take on operational work. At Broad Horizon, they will get the opportunity to build their finance career and gain experience working with private equity.
