Vacancy for Data Scientist
Running an online classifieds platform like dubizzle.com is a very data-driven affair. All strategic decisions stem from careful consideration of the hard facts and numbers. Across the entire Middle East and Africa region countries look to the Business Intelligence team (that sits within the Product department) to provide them with insights that can help grow and improve the platform, the brand, the products and the user experience.
Type of work
The Data Scientist will be getting business questions that require translating into product solutions. The answers will be found through data extractions, quantitative data analyses and predictive modeling. This means making technology work for you and applying your statistical know-how to bring the meaning of data to light. You find the insights for the business to act on, meanwhile balancing priorities of different stakeholders and judging which analyses would drive OLX’s growth the most. You manage that workflow from start to end.
Some solutions are one-off, but you also develop the ones that can be built and automated into the platform. Examples of projects can be: sort-order algorithms, customer life cycle treatments and automated fraud detection.
Requirements
This job on the intersection between data analysis, business and product development, requires an appetite to learn in all fields. Already on your cv are a Masters Degree in data science, computer science, mathematics or similar (e.g. MSc. Econometrics) and at least 3 years experience in data science, analytics or BI.
