ProRail’s mission is to continue to connect the Netherlands by rail, now and in the future. In doing so, the company faces a major challenge, because the demand for (inter)national mobility, and the emphasis on sustainability within it, will increase enormously in the coming years. To meet this, ProRail has set itself the goal of expanding and optimally utilizing rail capacity; making the network as reliable as possible; and making technology more sustainable. This ambition has implications both for day-to-day operational realities, and for the strategic roadmap up to as much as 2040.
To meet these challenges, strategic issues are at play across the breadth of the organization. To this end, the way of working in the company must also be modernized. ProRail has already initiated a change process, focusing on more agile cooperation between disciplines, shorter lead times, and making full use of the possibilities of data-driven work and digitalization.
