The story of Polspotten began when its entrepreneur, Erik Pol, was enjoying a sunny holiday in Spain thirty-five years ago. The defining moment came when a local potter handed Pol a beautiful terracotta planter. It was so unique that he put several in his car’s trunk to return with him to The Netherlands. Thanks to that potter, and Pol’s keen eye for design, those Spanish terracotta pots were all quicky purchased by Amsterdam flower shop owners.
What started with a few terracotta planters grew significantly over the decades into a globally loved, high-end home decoration brand that sells unique items in sixty-five countries. Anyone with a sense of design is familiar with Pols Potten furniture, crockery and home accessories. You won’t see mass-produced items and designs, as each decor item must be unique. As they say at PolsPotten: “If we ever switch to conveyor belt production, then it’s over.”
n 2022, the owners sold PolsPotten to private equity party Karmijn Capital. With this funding, PolsPotten can further accelerate their growth of the past years. Their strategy is to grow substantially in The Netherlands and Europe, as well as abroad. This includes attracting new customers, expanding existing partnerships, and developing new products. A clear and consistent e-commerce channel is essential to realise their growth targets.
