About Peddler
In 2019, James Klymowsky started with a simple but ambitious idea: to quickly connect consumers with products from retailers—from household items, boutique fashion, and organic food to gifts—in their neighborhood, and then deliver them by electric cargo bike. He developed a smart algorithm and launched the concept. Within a few years, 750 stores had already signed up. Then came the pandemic, followed by the rise of delivery services. Confident in its own abilities, Peddler continued to grow in a controlled and smart way. After a few pivots, the business model is now rock solid: consumers receive their orders quickly, while local retailers benefit from a logistics solution enabled by technology that is efficient, sustainable, and reliable.
Sustainability
For Peddler, sustainability is more than just a buzzword: it is deeply embedded in the company’s DNA as part of its mission. Peddler believes that logistics can be both fast and green, and this is reflected in everything the company does. From the use of refurbished laptops in the office to its fleet of almost 200 electric cargo bikes, every choice is a conscious one. Around four hundred riders cycle through Rotterdam, The Hague, Groningen, Eindhoven, Utrecht, and Amsterdam every day. It’s a simple calculation: electric cargo bikes emit ninety percent less than traditional delivery trucks, saving Peddler eight thousand kilograms of CO2 every day. The platform serves both local retailers and large retail chains and international brands, including Gall & Gall, DA, UPS, Plus, Nespresso, and Scheltema.
Working at Peddler
The Peddler team consists of smart, intrinsically motivated people who all share the same ambition: to grow and make an impact. Four core values guide the organizational culture: independence, teamwork, passion, and data. Employees are given a lot of responsibility and freedom to work together on the mission. The constant drive to keep growing characterizes the more than thirty employees at the Amsterdam office. The ambitions are big: in the coming years, Peddler wants to be active in more than twenty Dutch cities. To make the next phase of growth possible, the team is expanding, which means there are currently several vacancies at Peddler.
