Head of Finance
Bring sustainable logistics infrastructure closer to the consumer. That idea carried Peddler from a local marketplace to a technology-driven last-mile network serving major retailers in the largest Dutch cities. With new growth capital and a roadmap for 30+ locations, national expansion gains speed. The Head of Finance builds the financial engine that turns capital into a scalable, profitable network.
About Peddler
Peddler started in 2019 as a local marketplace. Founder James Klymowsky built an algorithm that matched consumer demand with inventory in nearby stores and delivered it by electric cargo bike. The concept took off, then the pandemic and the rise of instant delivery reshuffled the market. Peddler kept its footing by growing in a controlled manner, pivoting where needed and keeping a tight grip on cost.
Today Peddler is a technology-driven urban logistics company. Major international retailers, marketplaces, and e-commerce businesses use its network to deliver parcels in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, and Almere. The model rests on urban hubs close to the final delivery address, where parcels are consolidated and sent out by electric cargo bike and other efficient delivery methods. As cities restrict conventional vehicles and retailers demand faster, cleaner, and cheaper delivery, that model gains ground every year.
The next step is national. Together with strategic partners, Peddler has drawn up a roadmap for a nationwide network of some 30 new locations, designed so that each new city builds on shared infrastructure rather than starting as a standalone project. A recently closed strategic financing round funds that expansion. The Netherlands comes first. European expansion, together with clients and partners, is on the horizon.

“This role suits a finance professional who enjoys understanding how a business actually works. Peddler is a high-volume, operational, and cost-sensitive business, which means small improvements have significant financial impact. Whoever takes this on gets the mandate to build that capability at exactly the moment Peddler has been handed an immense opportunity to expand.”
Head of Finance
Peddler is entering the phase where operational scale, financial discipline, and technology come together. The Head of Finance builds the financial framework that carries the expansion. Accounting, reporting, and control stay essential, but the ambition goes further: finance becomes part of Peddler's real-time operating engine, showing management what is happening today and what to do next, rather than what happened last month.
That starts with strong fundamentals. The Head of Finance oversees cash, liquidity, and working capital, along with payroll, supplier commitments, fleet expenditure, capex, and lease obligations. As the network grows, every new hub raises the same questions: lease or buy, run transportation in-house or outsource it, how much capacity to plan for which volume. The Head of Finance turns those one-off analyses into repeatable frameworks, so new locations are assessed, launched, and managed on clear quantitative assumptions.
Peddler's economics are driven by a handful of operational levers: parcel volume, hub capacity, rider productivity, vehicle utilization, failed deliveries, and parcel density. The operation generates data on all of them in real time. Working with operations, management, and technology, the Head of Finance connects that data to financial performance. Cost and margin per parcel, hub, client, and service. Which locations run above or below plan. How a change in routing or staffing moves contribution margin, and where costs drift before they surface in the monthly accounts. The goal is to move from retrospective reporting to predictive, real-time financial control.
AI, automation, and modern analytical tools change what a small finance team can achieve. The Head of Finance actively explores where they help: automating recurring reporting, flagging anomalies, sharpening forecasts and scenario models, linking operational and financial data, and cutting repetitive administrative work. No AI engineering background is required. Curiosity and a willingness to experiment are. The leading question is how one well-designed model, dashboard, or workflow can improve decisions across the organization. The result is a finance function whose capability grows faster than its headcount.
Investor reporting and financing round out the role. Peddler is backed by institutional investors, experienced entrepreneurs, and strategic investors. The Head of Finance keeps management and investor reporting sharp and builds the models and investment cases for future financing, showing how capital converts into network growth, capacity, and enterprise value. As a member of the management team and sparring partner to the CEO, the Head of Finance moves between the strategic level and the detail of the numbers with equal ease, and challenges assumptions where needed. The team is lean today: one direct report, and the autonomy to decide how the function should grow with the company.
The timing is what sets this role apart. The capital is in, the partners are committed, and the roadmap covers some 30 locations that still have to be built. The Head of Finance decides how Peddler measures performance, allocates capital, and builds its systems, from a lean base and with modern tooling rather than legacy to unwind. Add direct exposure to the CEO and to institutional and strategic investors, plus the opportunity to participate in the ownership upside of a company entering a major expansion phase. For a finance professional who combines analytical rigor with operational curiosity and an entrepreneurial streak, this is the chance to build a finance function rather than inherit one.
