About Catawiki

Catawiki is the most-visited and curated online marketplace for special objects in Europe. Every week, the platform hosts 65,000 items for auction from around the globe in more than 80 categories. These include collectables, art, design, jewelry, watches and classic cars, and they attract ten million unique users every month. Its more than 200 in-house experts carefully select and value the best items to auction to make sure people can easily discover and buy special objects to help them fulfill their passions.

A piece of the moon, a complete dinosaur skeleton, the Pope’s hat, the world’s smallest book, we come across extraordinary objects every day!

René Schoenmakers and Marco Jansen founded Catawiki in 2008 with a vision to make special and hard-to-find objects more accessible to anyone. Since then, Catawiki has grown into a large and healthy online marketplace that operates in 45 different markets. In 2019, they generated a gross merchandising value close to €350 million, with 27% year-on-year growth. In addition, it was the first Benelux company to receive an investment from Accel Partners and Lead Edge Capital, the initial VC investors in Facebook, Dropbox, Spotify, and Alibaba.

Catawiki’s seven offices house a dynamic, open and fast-growing organization of almost 600 people. It has a hands-on culture and maintains a start-up mentality in a casual and friendly environment. The company offers the flexibility of partial remote working within a two-hour time difference from The Netherlands.

Vacancy: Payment & Shipment Group Product Manager

The Group Product Manager is responsible for payments and shipping, which is called the Fulfillment vertical. It has three teams who focus on the check-out experience, shipment integration and the fintech (all back-office activity), respectively. The challenge for Fulfillment is Catawiki’s cross-border nature and the various local payments systems, transaction rules, carrier partners, regulations and tax. The Group Product Manager’s key objective is to make Catawiki more international. This involves driving the longterm strategic direction of the Fulfillment vertical and leading strategic projects, as well as helping to execute some key projects. thoe Group Product Manager is also responsible for leading the teams and mentoring product managers to help them achieve their full potential.

In particular, the Group Product Manager’s focus is to improve the buyer’s and seller’s user experience. Buyers come to Catawiki for the unique objects on display, while sellers want to access a large community of enthusiasts. The platform is still a marketplace with sellers that have very different levels of maturity, which may cause friction in the user experience. Thanks to their clever payment and shipping solutions, people keep returning. The Group Product Manager translates user and business needs into product roadmaps that reflect customer insights, stakeholder input and company goals. Knowing how to balance big-picture thinking with attention to detail in execution is key to this role’s success.

The Group Product Manager plays a high visibility role in a key strategic area for Catawiki and reports directly to the VP of Product. Close collaboration and alignment with stakeholders in legal, finance, CX and other functions for both strategy and implementation are also part of this function.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced product manager with an appetite for building and improving the global payments and shipments operations at a company where you can truly buy a gold brick of Lego, a lock of Napoleon Bonaparté’s hair, or even one of Michael Jackson’s famous white hats.
