Cycas Hospitality is Europe’s leading hotel management company. Every day, it offers guests unforgettable stays in over 45 hotels in 12 countries, always with total dedication to hospitality and personal service. It is the company’s unique corporate culture, which encourages its employees to be the best version of themselves they can be every single day, that makes this possible. Cycas is seeing strong growth in both its portfolio and its team. The company is currently seeking a Senior Accountant in the central accounting department to independently take charge of the financial accounting of selected hotels in a specific region.
About Cycas Hospitality
The past few turbulent years have defined the “new normal” and reshaped so many aspects of our lives, including the way people travel. The desire for personal, individual service and authentic experiences is greater today than it has ever been, and this is currently one of the biggest factors driving the direction of the hotel industry. Cycas Hospitality, the leading hotel management company in Europe, is synonymous with a culture of hospitality focused on people and dedicated to creating the special moments that make a stay unforgettable.
From business trips to spontaneous getaways to a European capital for a weekend, to wellness retreats set in glittering five-star hotels, Cycas started building the foundation for this culture when it opened its first hotel in 2010, the Staybridge Suites hotel in Liverpool, and it has remained true to the legendary warmth and family atmosphere to this day. Now, with over 1400 dedicated employees throughout Europe dedicating themselves to personal engagement and outstanding service, the company is making sure that every guest feels at home and enjoys their stay to the fullest every single day, everywhere it operates. Cycas’ rapid growth in recent years is a testament to the success of this concept.
Today, its portfolio comprises over 45 hotels in all categories: that’s about 7,000 rooms in 12 European countries. From hotels and serviced apartments for private and business travelers, to young lifestyle brands and modern, innovative hotel concepts such as Moxy Hotels, to renowned 5-star properties in prime locations, Cycas is there. The group does this by partnering with major global brands such as Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Accor, Radisson, and Hyatt but also through the many independent hotels under its own management.
But growth at Cycas means much more than just expanding the portfolio. Cycas has set the explicit goal of developing the best hotel team in Europe, and it is well on its way to doing that. Core company values such as growth, integrity, fun, and teamwork, and a company culture in which personal growth and a pleasant working environment that feels like family are what ensures that the “Cycadettes” (Cycas employees) can be the best version of themselves and greet every guest with a smile that comes from the heart. It’s not for nothing that among numerous other accolades, Cycas has been named among the top 10 best employers in the hotel industry by The Caterer magazine five times in a row since 2018.
To strengthen the international accounting team, the company is now looking for a Senior Accountant who will independently manage the accounting side of a portfolio of German and European hotels and thus make a significant contribution to Cycas’ continued success.
„Great hospitality means sharing magical human moments. A happy team makes for the best experiences—both for our guests and our employees“ -Janet Roberts, Chief People & Culture Officer
Vacancy: Senior Accountant
Cycas wants to keep growing. New properties are being added to the portfolio almost every month, and the network in Europe is expanding consistently. This means that thanks to its centralized professional management, affiliated hotels can focus fully on creating an outstanding guest experience and making Cycas’ vision a reality: a hotel experience that is among the best in the market, for both guests and employees.
Because of its importance for the business, the accounting area in particular is critical here: The Senior Accountant will independently handle the financial accounting for, initially, 3-4 Cycas Group hotels in Germany and Central Europe and ensure that all business transactions are properly accounted for. A typical accounting job? Not at all. In addition to regular interaction with multiple internal clients, this role involves exciting and varied tasks that go far beyond traditional accounting: each of the many hotel brands and all other brands in the portfolio have different compliance requirements that need to be managed and kept in compliance — and that portfolio continues to grow.
In addition to sound experience in accounting and mastery of the relevant accounting tools, candidates should therefore have a curiosity for new things, flexibility, and a service-oriented attitude. The Senior Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager in Amsterdam and work closely with the hotels they oversee, as well as key stakeholders in the business, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and asset management.
Duties include:
- Preparation of the financial accounting of the hotel businesses
- Independent processing of daily business transactions
- Payment transaction processing
- Review and filing of preliminary VAT returns
- Drafting of monthly and annual financial statements
- Preparation of documentation for auditors and monitoring of the annual audits
- Further development and optimization of internal processes
- Participation in accounting projects
- Close cooperation and communication with relevant departments and external partners
Accounting professionals who share Cycas’ values and are eager to apply their skills in a new, dynamic environment will thrive in this role and have the opportunity to grow with a young, successful company. In addition to an informal and friendly corporate culture, you can expect a modern working environment at Cycas where diversity, equality, and inclusion are core values. Another of Cycas’ defining features is outspoken social engagement, and the donation of a percentage of unsold hotel capacity to charitable causes such as caregivers in positions of high burnout risk. An attractive salary, free use of the in-house fitness studio, participation in the Cycas Smiles Reward & Celebrations program, discounts at all Cycas Hospitality hotels and brands, and regular business trips to Amsterdam are just some of the other benefits this position offers. The role can be performed remotely if desired. Alternatively, the successful candidate will have the option to choose one of our serviced hotels as the place of work.
“The first thing that comes to my mind about the Cycas FIT (Finance & IT Team) is that I’m very proud to have such a fantastic and diverse team, with 17 nationalities and more than 25 languages spoken, and such a high energy level across the board. Growth, internationality, diversity, fun, and teamwork—that’s what we’re about.” – Peter Habelitz, Chief Financial Officer & Chief Technology Officer
