Fugro, the world’s leading Geo-data specialist, helps to create a safe and livable world by supporting its clients in designing, building, and operating assets safely, reliably, and sustainably. The Global Director Corporate Strategy will lead the way and help shape Fugro’s future. The position offers the chance to make impact on a global scale together with a diverse and international team.

About Fugro

Geo-data lies at the heart of Fugro’s work: information related to the Earth’s surface, subsurface, and everything built on it. With the company’s technology, people, and expertise, Fugro acquires Geo-data, analyzes it, and uses it to advise its clients. As pioneers in understanding the Earth, the company contributes to the global energy transition, safe infrastructure, urban and coastal resilience, and protection of the natural environment. Fugro is ambitious and wants to continue leading the industry with ground-breaking innovations.

Examples of Fugro’s project portfolio are site characterization and foundation design for offshore wind farms, the inspection of offshore assets with USVs (uncrewed surface vessels), the installation of monitoring systems on vital infrastructures such as bridges and railroad tracks, and mapping of coastlines for flood defense programs. Other projects the company supports are, for example, hydrogen plants, pipelines, cables, power stations, power lines, bridges, airports, roads, tunnels, and monitoring of ecosystems. Fugro provides cost-effective solutions to ensure safety and sustainability.

“Our purpose is to create a safe and livable world. We support our clients to achieve net zero carbon emissions, enable the development of sustainable infrastructure, and strengthen climate resilience. For our own operations, we target carbon neutrality by 2035, e.g., by investing in the decarbonization of our vessels and equipment.” – Mark Heine, CEO

At Fugro, around ten thousand people across 59 countries support a broad range of clients. The company, headquartered in Leidschendam (the Netherlands) and listed on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange, is truly committed to maintaining its position as the most innovative Geo-data company, by focusing heavily on its people and technology, including uncrewed surface vessels, robotics, remote operations, advanced analytics and insightful Geo-data platforms. Fugro continuously optimizes its portfolio and explores new markets, innovations, and business models.

Vacancy: Global Director Corporate Strategy

The Global Director Corporate Strategy will support Fugro’s senior leadership in shaping the corporate strategy and initiate and lead projects that are critical for its implementation. It is all about creating long-term value for the company by identifying business opportunities, based on market insights that capture industry trends and new growth markets. The Global Director Corporate Strategy will bring a fresh perspective on how Fugro can grow and should feel comfortable challenging the status quo. Most importantly, working at Fugro will enable them to contribute to solving the big challenges of today: climate change and the energy transition.

The Global Director Corporate Strategy will report to the Group Director Development & Digital Transformation (a member of the Executive Leadership Team) and lead a team of four strategists and two market analysts. They will work closely together with the Global Business Line Directors and members of the Executive Leadership team to translate the strategy into successful business initiatives. This will require occasional travel to engage with the regional and local teams in person. They will also team up extensively with Strategic Sales and Marketing, Innovation, Corporate Finance, and other leaders that are helping to shape the business.

“In a decentral organization like Fugro, making an impact requires more than just insightful presentations and diligent project management. It asks for engaging and influencing your stakeholders – internally and externally – with inspiring narratives.” – Wim Herijgers, Group Director Development & Digital Transformation

The Global Director Corporate Strategy will be involved in a wide variety of projects across the global organization; from driving corporate strategy and strategic planning process to developing a compelling Geo-data strategy, exploring new business models and market opportunities, evaluating potential M&A targets and designing sustainability initiatives contributing to Fugro’s net-zero ambitions.

The role is an ideal landing spot for a seasoned strategy consultant looking to transition toward a line management position. The Global Director Corporate Strategy will get to know Fugro’s business through and through and build a strong network worldwide.
