AniCura is one of Europe’s leading providers of high-quality veterinary care for pets. After all, why would animals not be granted the same level of care as humans? To that end, we encourage our clinics to always work with the best products and equipment. A good data-based understanding of AniCura’s procurement behavior is essential to continuously improve, which is why AniCura’s Procurement & Retail team is attracting a driven Data Analyst.

About AniCura

AniCura sprung from the idea that sharing resources and expertise creates opportunities to improve veterinary care. The company was established in 2011 as the first merger of companion animal hospitals in the Nordic region. The company has been consolidating the veterinary market rapidly ever since, always with a strong focus on the top segment. Only clinics offering the highest quality of care, specialist competences and service levels join AniCura.

Through both acquisitions and organic growth, AniCura has developed very quickly and now provides high-quality pet care at 355 locations across 14 European countries, which together employ more than 8,000 people. The AniCura network offers a wide range of medical services and products, covering preventive and first opinion health care as well as advanced diagnostics, internal medicine, intensive care, surgery, orthopedics, rehabilitation, physiotherapy, carefully selected pet food, and so on. AniCura always strives to be the primary choice for pet owners, so their pets are ensured of the best possible care.

Scale-up feeling in a global market leader environment
When AniCura joined global market leader Mars Petcare in 2018, the company became part of a large ‘family’ of veterinary care groups across the globe. As part of this family, AniCura has further improved its position to continue the development and investments in the medical quality and advanced veterinary care, whilst at the same time benefiting from a long-term perspective, in-depth industry knowledge and a global veterinary community where expertise is exchanged. That said, AniCura still very much has that ‘scale-up’ feeling, albeit it within the existing ecosystem of the leading international family business, Mars.

Vacancy: Data Analyst

Excellent data-based understanding of AniCura’s procurement behavior and performance is essential to provide our clinics with the right insights. Data-driven decision-making tools play a crucial role in how AniCura runs its operations. The company has a wealth of data at its disposal and the crux is now to translate these into actionable recommendations. Therefore, AniCura invests heavily in developing the capabilities, tools, expertise and systems in this area.

The role is part of the Group Procurement & Retail team, consisting of eight people who are responsible for managing relations with AniCura’s key partners and suppliers. Under the guidance of the Group Procurement Manager, Sven Nichting, the team’s activities cover the negotiations of agreements for the company’s key categories (pharmaceuticals, pet food, consumables, and medical equipment), while at the same time working closely together with selected partners and internal stakeholders on growing and further developing these categories.

“The role is a great landing spot into a global organization which is still very much developing and growing at an unprecedented pace. As part of the Group Procurement & Retail team, you really are at the heart of the organization, and get to interact with pretty much any other function and organizational level ” – Sven Nichting, Group Procurement Manager

Providing (vital) analytical support
The Data Analyst is responsible for further development, optimization and expansion of the data toolkit. Developing data reports, KPI dashboards and (decision-making) tools for different internal and external stakeholders are key responsibilities, just like continuous process optimization.  Making sure these tools provide AniCura with all vital insights is absolutely crucial. Also, the role will analyze and interpret these insights adequately to provide guidance to improve. Luckily, this is what the Data Analyst loves more than anything.

In doing so, the Data Analyst provides valuable support to (senior) category managers and the Group Procurement Manager that is used in strategic sourcing projects and international presentations. The Data Analyst will be closely involved in sourcing and tender projects, and whilst knowledge and experience expand, so will their responsibilities within such projects. AniCura places great emphasis on employees’ personal growth opportunities, making it an ideal company to develop further both personally and professionally.

The ideal candidate has more than one year of professional experience in management or strategy consulting, or in category management. Experience in procurement and procure-to-pay projects is a plus, as is experience with Power BI. But above all, an energetic and data loving mindset is indispensable, a person with a good common sense, problem-solving and an entrepreneurial attitude. As the role interacts with internal and external stakeholders across Europe regularly, fluency in English is a strict requirement.
