Steel is the packaging material of the future: it’s more durable than plastic or cardboard, and easy to separate (and recycle) because it’s magnetic. Still, the public perception tends to disagree. In order to change that, Tata Steel needs a Business Development Manager Packaging – a creative, experienced networker who is passionate about bringing innovative solutions to customers.

ABOUT TATA STEEL

Tata Steel is one of Europe’s largest steel companies, producing 12 million tons of high quality steel per year. The company is a frontrunner in value creation and responsible entrepreneurship.

Tata Steel Europe employs 21,000 people. In 2017, it ranked second on the list of MT 500 showcasing the best companies in The Netherlands. The corporate culture is open and informal. Tata Steel gives its people freedom and autonomy, and stimulates creativity and initiative. There are plenty of opportunities for personal and professional development.

Tata Steel recently developed Protact, a new type of steel for food packaging. The material is beneficial to food safety, more energy efficient, more compact and infinitely recyclable without loss of quality than ‘regular’ cans. The design in collaboration with a design agency recently won the outstanding achievement award during the Dieline Awards 2018.

“When you excel, this will not go unnoticed in this environment. That makes it a perfect jumping off point for the future of your career.” – Steven Dijkstra, Head of Marketing Packaging, Distribution & Integrated Businesses

VACANCY: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER PACKAGING

The Business Development Manager Packaging will further the expansion of Protact’s commercial success and future innovative steel solutions. In the traditional process, Tata Steel sells its product to the ‘can makers’. The Business Development Manager should convince brand owners and retailers, a target group new to Tata Steel, of the advantages that come with Protact. In order to present Protact convincingly, the Business Development Manager formulates a concrete value proposition for every client. Ultimately, the objective is to convince brand owners and retailers of the advantages of Protact in such a way, that ‘can makers’ will eventually start asking for this product themselves.

The Business Development Manager is part of a team comprised of Marketing Managers, Marketing Project Managers and experts in Marketing and Communication. He/she also works together closely with technical, R&D, production and sales teams.

Tata Steel’s customers are located all over the world. The Business Development Manager frequently visits these clients.
