Why work at Holland Dairy?
In 2009, two Dutch entrepreneurs founded a new company in Ethiopia: Holland Dairy. The goal: to provide employment, as well as a fair milk chain, including a fair valuation of the farmers. The ‘Holland’ brand has a premium positioning in the market and distinguishes itself from the competition through its high quality.
Fresh milk is collected directly from the farmer, processed in the local factory into high-quality dairy products, and delivered to the customer as quickly as possible. It sounds simple, but every day brings new experiences. Meanwhile, Holland Dairy can count on shareholders Veris Investment and Friesland Campina, a Dutch food and agri investor and one of Europe’s largest dairy producers, respectively. To continue its current growth, Holland Dairy wants to strengthen its commercial arm.
Corporate culture at Holland Dairy
To work in Ethiopia is to leave the beaten path. At Holland Dairy, a small MT made up of expats works with about three hundred locals to supply all customers every 48 hours. Working with a refrigerated product that must be delivered to a highly fragmented market with many competitors requires discipline, adaptability and a winner’s mentality. No day is the same, the atmosphere is informal. Office tigers are not to be found here. Adventurers are.
Holland Dairy headquarters
About three hundred people work at Holland Dairy. Many of them work “on the road” or at the factory in Debre Zeit, a short hour’s drive from the capital Addis Ababa, where the Holland Dairy headquarters is located. Not a corporate office where you report to the global department, but a nice workplace where you can roll up your sleeves.
